  • The largest city in southeastern Aloreh, Ciondel is an ancient bastion built Cycles ago. Nestled into the foothills of the mountains which find Methes Avonthes at their northern end, the city is notable for its impressive defenses. What sides of the city are not protected by the mountains themselves are ringed with stone walls of increasing diameter; the wide areas between the layers make up the various habitable districts. The primary trade in Ciondel is agriculture, though it has also become a valuable strategic position in Aloreh; the military bases along the coast to the east and the airship foundries to the north make the city a common destination for business of all kinds. During the War of Eventide, the Itheri Navy attempted one of their few land assaults on the city, travelling up from the south in an attempt to gain a foothold close to the Alor capital. They succeeded in breaking through several of the city's walls, but ultimately the siege took too long, and the arrival of Alor air support crushed the Itheri forces. This defeat was the turning point of the war, allowing for a counter-assault on Calastore itself which ultimately ended the war. In the years since then, Ciondel has done little to repair the masonry that once protected them, as the rise of alternative weaponry rendered them largely obsolete as it was. Infrastructure to better connect its people to the rest of Aloreh has been the focus instead, allowing for a return to the levels of tourism and trade that were taken for granted before the war.
