    Just over 1/6th (almost 5 years) of my existence has been dedicated to A’therys. Crazy to think that one decision way back in 2011 would last for so long. Yet the time has come for me to move on but ensure A’therys is taken care of, as I promised I would in such an event. As of today, I will be freely handing the server/website and all the bits over to Sellt, who because of his situation has the means to support it, ensuring that A’therys continues. The staff will remain and Jess who every day is becoming more experienced in coding, will continue to provide A’therys with what it needs. It’s a time for new ideas, a new drive, understanding and enjoyment of what A’therys is but striving to make it better. I have full confidence the loyal A’therians can make that happen. Thank you to staff and players, past/present, it has been one hell of an experience, one that I have learned so much from. I will still be around somewhat, have to transition the server over fully and make sure everything is setup. After that, new adventure awaits. I appreciate you all and how much A’therys has impacted my life, -Edd

    Hey everyone, Merry Christmas! I hope you’re all having pleasant holidays. Sadly for some of us, today was made significantly less pleasant when a group of members of our community decided to try something in extremely poor taste. Suicide and depression are sensitive topics that have affected many of us or those around us. It is not a joking matter and not something to make pranks about. The two responsible have been banned and we hope it’s extremely clear that we don’t take these things lightly. However disgusting and disappointing it might be that some people decided to spread news of a player’s suicide as a prank, it comes with some relief as we did not actually lose a member of our community today in this way. It’s a good time to remind everyone that it’s never too late to seek help or talk with those you care about. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their Holidays. -Scickar

    Ok so here we go, a map of our new world with markers for capitals and guilds on it. Couple of Notes: While we know the area the stuff should go, it wont be absolutely spot on but as close as possible. The map you are seeing is the export form world painter so colouring of landmass with biomes is how it is in MC. Spawn is not in this world, it will be its own little instance. Assassin’s guild has not been marked for obvious reasons. The locations of stuff is not up for debate. While you are free to plan where you will be, fights over land is not acceptable, it will be first come first serve with re-placing towns, you are not entitled to the exact bit of land you want and trust me there is so much to see around the map, so many amazing features that you will change you mind a million times anyway.

    The A'therys Fauna Pack This pack contains several organic creatures, one from each nation in A'therys as I would envision their fauna. I really enjoyed building these, so I will likely be releasing more soon - enjoy. Sellukite King Cobra A revered snake often heard, but rarely seen. Alor Brown Bison An animal commonly seen traversing the open plains of Aloreh - a hunters favourite. Vrovonic Great Moose Few travellers can boast to have encountered this mystical forest creature. Has it been ridden into battle? Quite possibly. Rusted Rock Scorpion A highly docile arachnid with rock-like features - perfect cross-country transportation. Loghec Emperor Monkey An exceedingly agressive monkey that will attack if threatened - caution is advised. Itheri Island Crab A common sight among the many islands of Ithero, makes for a delicious savory dish.     Quick little announcement right now. As some of you will have read a while back, we are starting to re-organize our staff structure, electing department heads for the various different aspects. Department heads are admins, or in game they are known as magistrates, they are un-opped staff that will play with you, fully integrating themselves so they can better understand everything and report to me. So, that out the way, I would like you all to congratulate Pumpapa as he has just been selected to become admin and be the department head for PvP, overseeing its entire management and making sure at every possible turn, he can do what needs to be done. He will also be helping out John with some of the technical stuff, meaning we don’t have to wait forever to get bugged skills fixed and or removed (remember vro’s boom?) So congratz Pump!

    Hello Atherys! I guess a lot of you are waiting for me to tell you what now happens that i took over as Owner. The most important part is that Atherys is here to stay! Now to what is to come. First the bad stuff: Soon we will have a website downtime of approx. 2 days to move the Website, Forum and TS to a new server (so it switches over into my ownership). Around the same time the server itself will go down for approx. 3 days to also switch over to an Account I own. Unfortunately both is unavoidable and i hope you understand. The good stuff: - After Anvil stepped down from his position we needed a new Loremaster and behold we found one: Xathas ! Congratulations! - Now that i'm the owner i can't be in the Daggerlands Government and with the absence of Sirlars we needed someone new. This new person is GodofGales! Congratulations too! He will be the last player nationhead for a while. - NPC Towns will come back. Each nation will get two and we will talk with the nationheads to figure out the best spots for them. They will be there to improve travel. Additionally we will connect the nationroads with fake ferries,smugglers or what lore fits. They will be warps too. To offset the extremely easy warp travel we will increase the amount it costs. The idea is that we want more foot travel, so people explore more and to provide Conduits with a job again. - The Helper Team will be changed into the Event Team. This will move the focus of the group more to make content for the players. The goal isn't these big huge event chains (they are allowed to do that too) but more smaller /medium ones. - We are working on an Amusement Park (perhaps some players already heard of this, I actually started it while i still was a mod). This park will have rides, minigames and hang out spots. Basically a place you can go if you are bored but want to be on the server on do something. It will grow over time with all Staff being able to add stuff (we also take player ideas). - Roreg Capital! The poor nation of Roreg doesn't really have a capital and we want to change that. We decided to allow all players to send us designs for the future Roreg capital (you can check out where it would need to go on the Map). The deadline to send us something would be Christmas which will make this our Christmas present to Roreg. - This will make the asian town south of Roreg a bit superficial. We are working on an alternative use for it (i hope we will also get lore for it). Possibly a Newbie Town for new joiners. - Caches will be changed to a more fluid system. More on that later. - PvE world will be made more RP friendly. Meaning we work on something to make it more interesting to go there besides to just level. - We are working on adding new custom mobs in the sense that their looks will be different (if you know the new pet plugin we have you know what is possible). This is still in very early stage. - Jess is working hard on the backpack situation (its being moved from denizen to a real plugin). - We have some other irons in the fire but it is to early to talk about them (we don't want to get your hopes up and then something happens that makes it impossible to implement them). More on these at a later time too. - We will make it possible to switch between PVP and Non-PVP every day. We don't want to force certain groups (pvp and rp) to just play on certain days and we think that the people who want to PVP will still find enough towns to fight. It will have a cooldown so you won't be able to toggle it every second. - Advertisement: Sanders will take over PR in the form of a moderated Facebook Page and a Twitter Account and possibly more. We will start small and slow and see where it goes. - And finally for all the people that asked. I will have a "Sellt Chat" on TS on next friday at 20:00 GTZ. I know that not all these chances are liked by everyone and just ask to trust us a bit and join the atherys train and travel with us into the future. I see many glorious days still ahead.     “FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS.” I’m going to start this off with that quote. This has been going on for MONTHS. A great deal of respect would’ve been given to Blue if he were to admit the wrong he’s done BEFORE being demoted. The fact that it required Blue to be demoted in order for him to apologize, I don’t understand how anyone can respect that. In addition to that, “A good deal of what you did was for the good of other players, so you shouldn't be too hard on yourself” … using those powers to benefit other players does not justify his wrong doings. And “Plus, there are a lot of other staff who have done the same at some point at least..” I find this REALLY unfair for the other staff members. There are a lot of staff members who put time and effort into the game, legitimately. This comment basically degrades the image of the staff, and essentially making it an idea that people can’t trust staff members. All in all, this is my opinion (so please don’t hate, just voicing mine like everyone else is doing) and i’m sure i’m voicing the opinions of others who don’t want to say anything. NO HATE <3 <3 <3 Edit: I really don't want this to be looked at as a flamey comment. I usually don't comment my opinion on things but this is something I feel strongly about. I'm not one to put down others, I'm actually VERY against it.

    Sunday, 7pm, 7 players online. At this point in time, it is very easy to think A’thersy won’t be around much longer, heck im sure there are people out there that wish it would just go away. Reading Tenacity’s cya later post just now it only drives the nail deeper, that I have failed, to just let it go but lets look at the facts: Atherys has lived for 4 years. In that time it has provided fun for thousands of people, literally. In that time it has seen people making friends, forming their own community’s. In that time it has helped people come out of their shell. In that time it has helped people get through their own really dark times. In that time it has even helped people get over truly dark thoughts. In that time it has seen mods / admins use their position in it, to gain a reference, which has aided them in getting jobs and college placements. It has helped people develop skills in art and in code. And so much more. You can say what you want about the server, or even about me but those right there, they are facts. So when people wonder why it doesn’t just die, why I or others don’t just quit, that right there is why. It is why we will push into 1.9, we will fight to deliver what we want, it is why, when I wake up in the morning as low and down as I can be, as burdened by the pressure as I can feel, I will continue fighting. This is not a soppy, praise me piece of bullshit attention seeking text, this is simply to drive home the very real point that I and others will continue trying. Whatever you are doing, wherever you may be, have a wonderful day A’therys and always, ALWAYS fight the good fight.

    Hello Atherys! First of all, Thank you for your Feedback, this will hopefully help us to get better and provide you a better experience on the server! If possible please wait with comments and question till the Sellt Chat were i will be more than pleased to answer them all. Comments and ratings for Staff stays private (they can share some of it if they want) and actions taken on them will be handled in Staff Meeting and shouldn't be a item in any discussion in this topic. Thank you. The Numbers The range you could select was 1-5 while 5 was the best. Keeping that in mind i classified all under 3 as not good, 3-4 as ok and all above 4 as good. I will add two more numbers to this You were asked if the Staff Member fulfills basic staff duty and interacts positively with the community. The Average of fulfilling basic staff duty is: 3.72 The Average of interacting positively is: 3.95 So while staff overall is good at interacting with the community, we still have a lot to catch up on communicating needed information. And while staff overall is doing its basic duties, we lack a bit in the professionalism department. We also see here that the event team clearly needs to step up its game. The biggest problem for me personally are the 5 ones under issues brought to the staff. That number should always be 0 and I apologize to these 5 people that this happened. If you wish please contact me via PM and explain to me what happened so we can prevent it in the future. Same goes for the 5 that put in a two. Overall the numbers aren't as bad as they could be but leave a lot of room for improvement. Staff Meeting on sunday will workout a plan to improve these. The Comments I saw several comments on certain staff and from the last page I want to quickly address in public. Comment: About Jess, Crash and Head not being active or not known what they do. Answer: These 3 are doing their jobs in a way you don't personally see and a post is forthcoming to explain a bit in more detail what they do and why they are admin. Comment: Asking certain people for nudes, or complaining not getting any. Answer: Whoever you are, you disappoint me. Grow up and treat human beings with respect. If i ever see this happen I will ban you (and depending on age this could also have more far reaching issues for you than you may think). Comment: Too many mods / not enough mods Answer: Funnily I saw both appearing several times. The Important part here is to keep in mind that I don't have a max. Mod rule. So nobody is blocking the addition of other people as Mods/Admins. If you think you could be a good mod then please apply. A post about this is also forthcoming (i think 1 or 2 more mods would be good anyway). Comment: About the rule that staff needs to be 18 and it is written "no exception". Answer: Yes, this is true that we DID make exceptions. Both cases (from the numbers i saw on this feedback) turned out to be very good exceptions. It is also the only thing on the application we MAY think about. If you don't deliver good answers to the other questions it will have a huge impact on if you become Mod or not. Comment: Get cheaper hosting Answer: You really think i wouldn't like to safe money? Up to this point of time, all the options i was presented by people weren't good options. Hosters, while cheaper, with abysmal reviews. I rather pay a bit more and have the server actually online. And the support we get from phoenix NAP is THE BEST i ever saw in any field of customer service. With this provider I can be 100% sure if the issue is on their side it will be handled and solved in no time. Comment: Lore, nation heads etc missing from the survey. Answer: Yes, my fault. I didn't want the survey to be too big and this is basically the first time I did something like this. I will include them in the next. Overall, the positive comments are far more numerous than the negative which makes me a bit happy and i hope to turn at least some of the negatives to positive in the near future. --- We will repeat this Feedback once a month so we can see what improves and what not.     As some of you will know, our community received some shocking and tragic news. As of 2 days ago our friend zxIce was pronounced deceased in his home. He's been around on atherys for years, and was a friend to many. Ice was the original Taco Bell internet. Ice was the original speed 10 exemplar. Ice was always trying to make the server more enjoyable through pvp, or through just larking about. Below is some links where you can find out some information surrounding his death, if you so wish.     A'therys Heroes Update As most of you know, the Heroes side of things on A'therys has undergone huge changes. We've worked hard to release a version of Heroes where every class matters and is viable, for this to be possible we changed around a lot of values, removed some classes, merged some and reworked a lot. Because this update is so much larger than a usual patch and the sheer size of changes there won't be any patch notes, but just keep in mind that there isn't a single class that we haven't changed this update. This could've been just some value changes to make the class more viable or just an entire rework that will make the class a lot better. This post is here to sum up all the big changes that have been made including the mastery changes. General Changes The descriptions of all skills have been given an overhaul, they now show correct values all the time with a highlighted colour and make a lot more sense. This should help you understand what classes do and how their skills work and if that isn't enough already, we're also working on a bunch of guides that are going to help a lot with this stuff. We have a new channelling mechanic, when you cast a spell that requires you to channel first you will see particles pop up around you and smoke appear right above you, if you get silenced, stunned or piggified while channelling the skill will cancel, putting it on cooldown. There are also some skills that have an effect while channelling instead of doing something when you finish channelling. So be sure to save your silence skills for when you see an enemy channelling something destructive. Enchanting The recipe of the item you need to be able to enchant (Enchanter's Dust) has been changed to: 1 Gold Nugget + 1 Lapis + 2 Redstone Dust = 2 Enchanter's Dust The way we calculate how much Enchanter's Dust a single enchantment costs has not been changed but there's no place to find it on the new forums so here it is: Leveling and Masteries Tiers no longer exist. After people master their base class in spawn they can choose their main class of that tree right away, after that there's no picking other classes in higher tiers. Every class is worth 100 levels and a total of 100k experience. Because people will be leveling the same class a lot and there aren't any tiers that acted like 'checkpoints' for mastering any more we've decided that swapping classes will now always save the levels you have in that class, regardless of if you mastered it or not. The Exp curve has been slightly changed, you will now see that earlier levels will be a bit tougher than just getting 3 levels from one mob and the last levels will be a bit easier than they used to be before. A system has been put in place that will allow people to move over their old masteries from V2 to the new server, for more information about that, please read this post: http://atherys.com/forum/index.php?/topic/453-new-heroes-moving-over-your-masteries/. Classes Here's a quick list of the big changes to classes, a rework means that it has been given a different playstyle and/or a bunch of new skills. We've decided to merge/remove a bunch of classes because they didn't fit like they used to do, had weird mechanics and this made room for us to create more new classes in the future. Classes that have been reworked Adjudicator Balladeer Demilune Doomsayer Endergaunt Orphiant Sylvanite Cryomancer Terramancer Pyromancer Tempest Classes that have been merged Doomsayer and Harbinger Mountebank and Troubadour Urthkeep and Paradigm Classes that have been removed Elementalist Executioner Mirewalker ToothWizard Which turns the new classes tree into this: That's it for this post however, a lot more has been changed this update that is not stated in this post. I recommend that if you want to see all the changes just log on and check out what the classes are like right now with the in-game commands and the upcoming guides. This update has been extremely fun to make together with the Heroes Team, it's been quite a change since @MisChiv and I took over the leadership of the team and I've had a great time this update coding most of the stuff together with @Saterra.     ***I probably cussed a few times in here, so if you don't want to see it/can't handle it, leave the post now*** ***IF you came on this thread to flame or start a pointless argument, leave now.*** Hey guys. I usually don't make posts like these, and I usually don't even post too often on the forums. For those of you who don't know me, a little introduction. I am Velkas, but most of you know me as Mike. For V1 and V2 I was known as ManiiaC_Miichael. I have been a member of the A'therys community since December 2nd, 2012, since I've joined I've had the pleasure of being the First Captain of Valinta Carte (V1 Pirates Guild), holding numerous military ranks across a few nations, being the mayor of two towns who have won town of the month, and most recently, I was the nation head of Vrovona. I've had the opportunity to meet many fantastic people on A'therys, some of which I've met in real life, and some I've kept in touch with for years now. A'therys has been a wonderful community to me, and I wish more players in the minecraft community would get to experience what A'therys has to offer. There is truly- no other server out there like ours. Usually minecraft is just filled with very basic mini games servers and PVP faction servers. A'therys goes way beyond all of that. I think we can agree that is what attracts us to it, its complexity and its community. As a longstanding member of the A'therys community, I can say that I do enjoy and respect every aspect of A'therys and what it has to offer. From the lore, to the amazing player builds, to the unique player PVP experience A'therys delivers. But I think we can do more- and I think we can do better. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, most of these suggestions will be long term issues to fix. I'm not expecting anyone to do any of these within the week, or even within a month. A huge problem for A'therys has always been new player retention, this is generally speaking up to the community to fix (there are some things outside of the community's control) I would ask you to look at V1. I know what you're thinking, I am a V1 enthusiast and want to go back to the glory days; While I loved V1 with all my heart, I am not dumb enough to think that is possible. But there are things we did in V1 as a community that made it easier to support new players. One huge thing I think, was actively recruiting towns. Think of how many towns had town posts with applications you could submit to join their town? Or towns that would just be ready to recruit you the second you joined their nation? There are some of you around who do this (thank you) but it could always be more. The only reason I don't do it for my town is because we have weeks of activity and inactivity and that isn't very suited for new players. So I'd like to encourage more of you to open up your doors, be more friendly with new players. Show them the ropes, invite them to your town or find someone that will. If you don't, there is a good chance nobody else will. Show them what A'therys has to offer, and what made you stay here all this time. If you don't know how to help a new player. Here are some things you can tell/ask them. 1. Welcome to A'therys! + your nation or town 2. What aspects of the server are you interested in? Building, PVP, RP, etc...(Helps you figure out what to talk about how to put them in the right place) 3. Have you checked out the forums? (Also ask about teamspeak, its easier to explain things and easier to have a more sincere interaction) This gets the conversation going and gives you an idea about why that person decided to put in the A'therys IP and join it. Also, there isn't jack shit to mine anymore. Not going to lie, I've contributed my fair share of sucking up all the ores you can find underground but A'therys needs places for new players to gather materials like that to make money, especially with the player to player transactions not being all to active. If there is a way to take a day or two and have someone go through and replenish the mines, that could be a good idea. I've heard some negative things about the current spawn where new players join, I haven't actually been able to see it myself, but that may be an issue that could be looked at. (Just heard this) Now onto some other things, Bugs There are TONS of bugs on live right now. Piggify kicks you for flying, (a lot of things kick you for flying actually), mounts are bugged, and hero skills don't work properly. For example, I can position swap my party members but not my enemies. Oh yeah, and you can use some skills on people in no PVP. I don't know how soon you guys plan on releasing the new heroes update but if its not for a while yet, if someone has the time to address these bugs, it would be great. I know I'm not the only one who is frustrated with it. I also heard you are fixing the regeneration and hunger bar in the new update, THANK YOU. Arenas are pretty buggy too. PVE- I've spent some time in the /golevel world over my winter break, and I have a few suggestions. For one, some classes excel at leveling in the PVE world, while others are helpless and need someone else to hold their hand and power level. Add something to the classes that struggle so that people aren't discouraged from leveling them. (Terramancer is a perfect example of this, think of how good haruspex is, and how awful terramancer is at leveling) Another thing is, honestly, just remove deadeyes. Now to address caches, I honestly think the rewards from the caches are pretty terrible. I know there is a randomized plugin or whatever, but if there is another plugin that you could use instead to fully customize the drops so that they aren't completely and utterly useless and really, not even valuable that would be more incentive to visit the PVE world more often. I talk about this issue a little more in my previous suggestion thread about this Continuing on PVE, Edd had promised dungeons before Evo had started and even teased us with pictures. Personally, I would LOVE to see dungeons. Especially ones with great builds. I know there is a post up on A'therys right now about submitting designs and all that, but I think if the staff would personally reach out to some of the amazing builders that A'therys has and try to get a team together to pump out some awesome dungeons. When I find the time to do one (I'm heading back to my University tomorrow and will be on a 13 inch acer with like 20FPS, not to mention school work and all that) I am probably going to crank one out personally. But seriously, have some of the guys who know the lore like the back of their hand create an awesome backstory for a dungeon, have some amazing builders create an epic, jaw dropping dungeon, and drop in some mobs. (YES I DO REALIZE THIS ISN'T EASY I AM JUST SAYING, it would be epic to have in game. For new and old players.) I also heard the nether island is in the works, so I won't suggest a PVP/PVE area with boosted XP. (THANK you to the team working on this, some of the greatest memories were on the nether island.) BUT please, please, reset the the nether island after a certain amount of time so it doesn't become a griefed hellhole with no resources. (also go back to my point of possibly refilling caves with ores/ restoring caves) Now to PVP To begin, I'm not going to be talking about the new heroes update, so if you've come here looking for it, sorry. I haven't really had a chance to really give it a try, or form an opinion on it. While I have fixed feelings on the concept of it, I'm haven't been around it enough to really talk about it. So I won't. Most of the talk about PVP will be targeted at the community. It seems there is an ongoing war between PVPers- and the people who enjoy the other aspects of the server. I truly wish this would stop, but there are negative attitudes, remarks and grudges. There is toxicity on both sides, don't deny it. We as a community need to sit down and try to have a conversation as civilized as possible to make rules that benefit both sides of the community as much as possible. Make negotiations, even if you don't like them. Not everything on the server will be suited to your preference, and that is something you will have to deal with. If both sides refuse to make negotiations and refuse to budge, then no progress will be made, and this will be a never ending argument. I'm actually currently sitting the Sellt chat and witnessing retarded arguments take place. People saying: "pvp doesnt create problems. non pvpers do" This logic is so incredibly stupid, and is the reason there is no progression. Oh yeah, and the response from the other side "PvPers cause toxicity to become an issue" This stupid, petty, immature, pre-pubescent argument is what causes a bridge in the community and leads to 0 progression. I have 13 and 14 year olds in my town, I would have never guessed some of these people are that age, because there are people in their 20's on A'therys who are less mature then they are. Grow the fudge up, be respectful of other opinions whether it clashes with your opinion or not. Don't make people wait an hour, or two hours at your town for you to ./hero whois every single one of them, change your comp, and gather more number than them. It wastes time, and makes PVP anti-fun for everyone involved. Try to be honest with your numbers, can't tell you how many times throughout Evo people tell me they have X amount of numbers, we match them and then they come out with more. It discourages PVP, and discourages activity on the server. Another problem currently on A'therys is EGO. SO many PVPers refuse to PVP under certain circumstances because they don't want to fight unless they are sureshot to win. This leads to abuse of bugs, unfair PVP, and will ultimately lead to a decline in server activity all together. (This hasn't been happening recently really, but I'm sure it could come up again) Honest PVP and good fights, regardless of the winner will lead to more of that type of good PVP. Economy I don't really have an idea about how to help the player to player economy interactions on the server, because that is the area of the server where I least participate. I'm listing it as an issue because most people on A'therys have the money that they do because they just spam sell to admin shops. Make players interact with each other to sell items. Once again, I don't really know how to approach this issue because its really not my domain. I'm just listing it as an issue because I used to have to make money by selling things and joining companies, and collecting supplies to send to players in need. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, that's about all for now.     What started as a passion project 4 years ago has nowadays turned into a struggle of endless turmoil. Its late, 2.50am and I’m sat here getting closer to bedtime and once again I’m pm’ed on skype with information that an old player has taken it upon themselves to dictate that the server is going to shut down to others, trying hard to kill it off. I have had to deal with these types of people many times before now, imagine how tiring that is and how many feelings of negative retaliation I have to squash. Poor me right? Nah, part and parcel of this here thing. Anyway, we can all see A’therys is hurting bad and yeah, I myself have very little love for it left because of people like that, but its here still, I’m trying my best to keep it going and even in the event I couldn’t, I would find someone who could because as long as there are people willing, its worth keeping alive for those who enjoy it.

    This rule addition is one that has been requested several times over since A’therys began. Looking back, the amount of real problems that have been created due to the issue this rule will prevent are insane. Before I go on I do wish to acknowledge that there will be some in the community, probably in each nation that will not like this rule at all but it is about the future of A’therys and more people quit or have quit because of the problem than they will because of the rule. The rule: From this day forward, it is prohibited to raid your own nation unless two towns mutually agree that one another can raid each other. My hope is, not only does this put a stop to future arguments, quitting’s and or misery within a nation but also helps band together a nation a bit more and maybe allow for a better spread of PvP orientated towns through all of the six nations. Of course you don’t have to integrate with your nation you just can’t attack them. The normal protocol will apply to this rule, doing so once will result in warnings for all members participating in a raid, bans will be issued for repeat offenders. We will even goes as far as removing towns if that’s what it takes to enforce the rule. Hopefully though, everyone understands this, understands why and does not push it. Thank you for reading.

    I don't normally feel I have a lot to say, but really wanted to let you guys know what I was thinking. I love playing Minecraft and have been looking, for quite some time, for a server that had what I wanted. I was blessed to come across A'therys mentioned in a book. When I read what the server is about, I was so excited! And so, I joined. My first night on, I was amazed at the A'therys world. You have all made a beautiful place to play. TeddyTazer gave me food and tools when he found out I was new and some pointers. Soon, Rynelf(Coding13) invited me to join Gearwork. I have been amazed at the level of thought and creativity put into every aspect of Gearwork, and into every aspect of A'therys. lnShane, Douggy, even Magni and Equitem, have given me guidance along the way and made the play fun. The dungeons are well thought out and I enjoy that there are different levels of challenge available. Many others have reached out to me, in fun, to offer help, and I see it often when new players are on. I think what I am trying to say is that I greatly appreciated the server, the hard work, the community of players. You all make it a pleasure to be on. Sure, there are times when it's quiet and I'd like to see more people, but I wanted to let you know that they are out there. And when they come across you all, and are welcomed and helped by you all, if this is what they're looking for in a server, they'll stay. And if they weren't looking for it, they might be surprised at how much they enjoy the play and the players. I appreciate that you all care enough to be so active in discussions about the server and how to grow it forward. It says a lot about all of you. And I just thought I'd let you know.

    Introduction: Hey guys, Ambrius here. As quite a few of you have probably heard by now, me and a few other people have been in the process of creating a bunch of new content for A'therys. Today we just finished the terrain for the map and I'm therefore confident in showing you some of what has already been created as well as explain all the mechanics that we'll be implementing. As always it is of course important that you keep in mind that things probably will change and what I'm about to show you doesn't necessarily represent the final product. The Map: The map itself is roughly 400 blocks in radius and features a norse type of terrain with hills roughly as steep as the ones in Aloreh. The specific locations that people will be fighting over will however be more flat. The map will preferably be located in a multiverse world of its own, but that will require more performance testing before we can say for sure. After all, we won't know before we've seen it in action on A'therys. Otherwise it'll most likely be located in the PvE world. Here's a preview of what the entire map looks like: On the map there'll be 3-4 different builds along with a few random ones here and there to add a bit more depth to the world. There'll be a build for each capturing location for the capture point, which I'll get more into later. Each build will be favouring a different type of play style. What we've settled on so far are the following: Castle/fort Ruined village Shrine At the castle, people will be fighting in a courtyard, so you can imagine that it'll be pretty close combat, which overall is going to favour zone control and melee classes. Warriors in particular as they're tanky and won't need to hop in and out of a battle. The ruined village however will largely promote the mobility heavy play-style that rogues have to offer. With plenty of houses and high ground for rogues and archers to jump around on, this will be the ideal place to play a mobility heavy class. Lastly there's the Shrine, which will be an open field with a simple structure in the middle. As you can probably imagine, this will be good for the classes that generally rely more on peeling and kiteable terrain. Since we haven't done any building, that's the next big thing to do, so we'll start on that this week. The build style will be comparable to the New Kelin build style but with more of a norse medieval feel to it not to mention that it will be in ruin. The following pictures show some of the terrain from the map where the builds will be made: The Conquest Point: The Conquest Point will be a daily event happening once a day during prime time of the activity, so around 5pm EST/10 pm GMT. The event will be completely automated and there'll be a series of server announcements leading up to the event so everybody knows that it's about to happen. The event will consist of 5 rounds each lasting 10 minutes, which will result in the event being an hour long. Note that these durations might change as we start testing out the gameplay some more. At the end of each round each nation will get a set amount of points depending on how many member of each nation is within the capture point location. 1 point for member. When the last round is over, whichever nation has the most points will win. It's also important to note that there'll be a penalty for dying. If you end up dying, you won't be able to go back to the island for around 5-10 minutes, which means that you'll be locked out for about a round. As previously stated there'll be 3 capture point locations each favouring a different type of gameplay. The capture point location will be randomly selected at the start of each round, meaning that players will have to move from location to location, instead of camping one single spot. This allows for more diverse combat as well as teams intercepting each other, which hopefully will result in more enjoyable gameplay. The locations will be spread across the island with roughly 200-300 blocks in between them. The capture point locations will look something like this: We'd also like to improve the importance of alliances and players will therefore be able to choose which nation to fight for. This means that guilds will also be able to participate even though they aren't officially a part of a nation. As an example a player can therefore choose to fight for Aloreh even though you're a part of Ithero. Nations can choose to fight alongside each other under one banner and then split the prize afterwards. More about this later. Theoretically you should only have to pick once, unless of course you're going to be switching nation to fight for, but issues might mean that you'll have to repick. There'll be an NPC like this located in each capital where you'll choose who to fight for: Mobs: Apart from the Conquest Point the island will also feature a bunch of different mobs. The big difference here is that these mobs will be granting increased experience. Exactly how much is not settled on yet, but it might end up with double experience. The catch here is that PvP will be on at all times and the mobs will be harder than average, so you best bring a group when you go to the island. The plan is to create a Tireneas-like environment, if any of you remember that. Tireneas was an Alor NPC town with exceptional mob spawns. This of course resulted in conflicts over the area, where nations would bring their new members to level up and the veteran players would defend them against other nations. In my experience this was one of the most fun set of PvP experiences that I've had on A'therys as it suddenly gave PvP and alliances a much needed purpose. Something that I'd like to recreate and have other players also experience. We haven't figured out the exact details on how we want to do mobs, but you can be sure that there'll be plenty of them. They'll most likely be centralised at a specific location so there'll only be one spot to fight over. Apart from that we might have mobs granting a normal amount of experience spawn all over the map along with a couple of rare mini bosses. On top of that we'll have a system sort of similar to the Treasure Goblins in Diablo 3. Players will have a small chance to encounter a Scavenger, which will be carrying a bunch of different loot. This will be announced in chat. The player will then have a set amount of time to kill the scavenger before it escapes. This will hopefully add a bit more fun and unexpectedness to the sometimes tedious task of grinding to max level. The exact spawn rates and loot isn't set in stone yet, but overall we plan on upping our game when it comes to mobs. Rewards and Loot: As previously stated the nations will be rewarded for the efforts towards controlling the island. This will be done once a month, where the winning nation will receive some sort of reward. This will be given to the nation leader and it is then his/her job to distribute the prize. The prize should ideally change from month to month, and it could be anything from a large sum of yora, to a large quantity of PvP equipment, to a set amount of titles for the most valiant soldiers. Again, it really comes down to what you, the player-base wants, as the possibilities are really limitless. Personally I'd like to see each month ended with a feast of celebration in the winning nation's capital, but that will be for the nations to decide on. As I said earlier nations can most definitely ally, which would mean that one nation would have to pick another to fight for. At the end of each month the two nations would then have to split the prize. Who knows? The staff might throw in a bit of a bonus as a result of your political efforts, which is really the good part about this piece of content. It doesn't only affect the PvP scene. Hopefully this will inspire a some more RP too, since people will suddenly have a lot more to RP over. Either way what I hope to see is the player-base giving some of the other bits of content on A'therys a try. Hopefully we'll see some big battles between the alliances that'll rise. Fights that the entirety of the community could potentially partake in. But I'm getting ahead of myself, so let's take a look at some of the other rewards. Apart from granting increased experience, the mobs on the island will also have a chance to drop a bunch of new loot from a brand new loot table. We're planning on reintroducing nation sets like the ones that we had in V2, but without the ridiculous attributes. This time around they'll just be for collectors and use in PvP since some of them will have slightly superior enchants. Here's a little teaser: Then there's the Scavengers, which will be dropping from a from a different loot table. This will be lore items, books, maybe a few valuable tools etc. you get the idea. On top of that they'll be granting bonus experience and have a decent chance of dropping loot caches. Commands and Stats: Additionally we're also considering adding a KDA system on the island. Bear in mind that this won't be anywhere else in the world so all of the previous issues with it, won't really be the case. The system won't have much of a purpose besides measuring dicks. Apart from this there'll be commands to check which nation has the most wins. This along with the KDAs would be reset by the end of each month. Lastly there'll be a command to check which nation you're fighting for. This will be handy incase you want to be sure that you have the right nation selected. The possibility of a staff member messing up and resetting all of the nation flags is definitely also a possibility, so it would probably be wise always to check before you head into battle. Final Words: I'd like to know what you guys think so far, so by all means give us some feedback in the comment section below. All of this is of course still in development, so much of it might still change and there's definitely still room for improvement. You're also more than welcome to ask if you have any questions. I'll be more than happy to give a little more info on the various aspects in case I was unclear. Lastly let me say that there's a ton more stuff that I'd like to have implemented, but unfortunately I've been limited because it could be abused in one way or another.     So That We Can All Move Forward Hey folks Ambrius here with another rather long post. First and foremost let me state that this post is absolutely in no way intended to harm the community. I’m writing this to express my current thoughts on the state of A’therys and to give some feedback on what I think could be improved on from both a staff and community standpoint. Who knows? Perhaps some of you might come to a realization or two as well. Either way, it’s important to note that these are purely my opinions on the server and does not reflect any beliefs of the staff. That also means that none of my suggestions are planned for the server, at least to my knowledge, and none of them are therefore necessarily going to happen. After all, we all saw how it went down when I initially brought up the idea of A’therys v3. So just to make it completely clear. None of these suggestions are necessarily going to happen and these are just my suggestions! (Kinda silly that I have to do this for people to understand). This post will for the most part focus on things that need to change on a structural and mentality level, more so than actual content. The argument about who’s going to do it and how, can therefore not really be applied. It’s basically just aspects within the community that I feel could be improved on, some of which really won’t require too much effort from the people involved. As previously stated it will be addressing things for the community as well as staff, so I hope you will all take the time to read it and get something out of it. Enjoy! The Mentality Of The Community: What went wrong? Since around the middle of V2, where the numbers slowly started diminishing, we’ve heard the same thing over and over again. “The community has gone bad”, and while this might just be me and other people’s nostalgic view of a time where everything seemed fresh, new and exciting I do still believe that there’s some truth to the argument. I’m not saying that players suddenly turned into a bunch of angry little drama-starting gnomes since V1 definitely also had it’s fair share of drama. What I will however say is that there has been a change in the mentality of the community. In the heat of all the discussions a large portion of the playerbase seemed to forget why they were playing on the server in the first place. We are all here for the same reason after all. To have fun. People got so caught up in all of the drama and crazy discussions about various matters like the dwindling numbers or negative interaction between two towns, that they completely forgot why they were here in the first place. We’re all just here to play the game and enjoy ourselves. Remember that A’therys. This evidently also led to a change of heart for a lot of players, who resorted to slowly limit themselves to only interacting with their own little communities. This has over time created a barrier between a lot of different sub-communities, ultimately resulting in what at this point only can be described as hatred. This to me is one of the most ignorant and dumb traits of the community. People don’t realize that all of this negativity is ruining their own not to mention others’ experience of the server. How It Affects The Community: Let’s have an example of an ongoing conflict. My former town, Claridge Harbor, and Inoh Village has over the last few weeks been going back and forth at each other’s throat over nothing besides anger and hatred despite them being in the same nation. If I was a new player starting out and was to join the nation of Ithero, I’d get a really bad impression of not only the nation, but also the server as a whole. This toxic behavior from both sides, is destroying the will to play for multiple people and to be quite frank I’m a bit astonished by the fact that there hasn’t been more of an effort from the staff to stop it. So here’s what I’d like the community to remember. We are all here for the same reason, that being the joy of playing on the server, so why bother ruining the experience for others and yourself? Why not try and make it a better place for everybody involved by not going out of your way to spread negativity and cause drama? The other players might be your enemy within the game, but they’re still a regular player just like you and there’s absolutely no reason why you should go out of your way to cause trouble by reporting them as soon as they’re getting the slightest on your nerves. Instead try and resolve conflicts by yourself in a more mature manner. Of course you have the right to get staff involved if need be, but more often than not you’re just making it worse for the other player, the mod, and most importantly yourself! So please for the sake of everybody within the community, get your shit together and stop taking everything so seriously. That way we can all enjoy ourselves. Relationship Between The Staff And Community: A Lack Of Mutual Respect: The relationship between the staff and the community has been a topic of debate for quite some time and as far as I’m aware, lately it’s gotten a bit worse than previously has been in the past. To me it seems like there’s a lack of mutual respect between the staff and the players, which is something that we really need to rebuilt at this point. It’s hard to say exactly what is the cause of this diminishing lack of respect on both ends, but my guess would partly be the inconsistencies in how the staff do their job. I’ll get more into this in the next section, but in short negative interaction between players and staff over how the staff is dealing with a particular episode does take some of the credit. It’s hard for certain community members to understand that it’s impossible for staff to do their job the exact same way. This is however something that we can drastically improve. This negative interaction is really just an evil circle, as the staff member will get more and more frustrated with the bickering of the players, which will then eventually lead to more misjudgement and unprofessionalism. Overcoming The Boundaries: From the community I’d like to see a bit more maturity. If the staff member says something, that’s how it’s going to be. If you don’t like it that’s tough luck. If you really do deem there to be misjudgement or misbehavior on the staff member’s behalf. Then take an hour or two to cool off and reevaluate. Then bring it up to the upper staff. After all that’s a big reason why they’re there. From the staff I’d like to see more neutrality and patience. Keep things as professional as possible. I know that you’re doing your job for free and that you might’ve had a bad day, but to openly make mistakes and then not admit it hurts everybody much more, than you saying that you’re not fit to deal with this particular ticket. Now earlier I also mentioned that I think a part of the hatred is driven by the fact that people are so split up into little sub-communities. This applies to staff too. You guys are supposed to be a friendly face in the community and that’s why I’d like to see more staff going out of their way to interact with more people than just their little clique. Bear in mind that I’m not saying this applies to all staff, but it does seem to be a worrying trend for some. Staffing: Redemption: This part is going to be slightly more controversial as I’ll dive into some of the more “touchy” subjects. At this point I must admit that I’m not completely sold on how the staff functions as a whole. It’s not secret that a lot of the staff are inactive and a large portion of the community have their own little issues with the various individuals. First of all what I propose is another purge. Remove the inactive staff and have the community give feedback on the remaining ones through Google Docs or whatever you prefer to use. Should there be any patterns in the various complaints then that’s probably worth looking into. At the same time give the community an opportunity to praise the staff that are actually doing well and be sure to let those members know. After that, start actively recruiting a few of new moderators. Take a few chances on some people and give them an opportunity to prove themselves. This applies to some of the people who enjoys other aspects of the community than what the majority of the staff does e.g. PvP. I personally think that it’s a great shame to see a lot of PvPers being mistaken for your average stereotype douchebag. More diversity on staff is much needed at this point. Improving The Structure: Moving on to staffing itself, I really do think that the staff need to revisit the rules. I understand that upper staff want to keep the rules as general as possible to avoid exploitation by finding loopholes, but what this effectively does is leave way too much interpretation for the staff, resulting in massive inconsistencies in how the various staff members do their job. While we’re at it, I also think HR should consist of more than just Edd at this point. Give it more of a refined purpose, that being to teach the rest of the staff how to do their job in addition to what it has previously. Let’s face it. Smacking people in the face with a guide can only do so much for a job requiring social interaction. Experience and guidance is what’s really needed at this point. Now keep in mind that I’m not only moderators. This most definitely also applies to administrators. Here the technical side of things apply even more. The amount of mess-ups I’ve seen causing damage to the server, is pretty ridiculous. Improving on the staff’s ability to do their job should result in a much more pleasant experiences for everybody on the server, and will also improve the relationship between the community and the staff. More about this later. Improving The Rules: Returning to the rules real quick, I also think it’s about time to get rid of a few of them. For example I do not think the rule stating that you’re not allowed to use profanity serves any purpose. We’re already doing it in PMs, Town chat and even more so on Teamspeak. Over all it just allows for some clunky staffing that a large portion of the community continuously chooses to ignore. It’s important that you all keep in mind that the rules preventing harassment and verbal assaults should still be in place. We’re only talking about the everyday-swearing that most of us already do. Again, revisit the rules and see what actually needs to be there. I for one firmly believe that mechanics are way better at preventing rules from being broken than staffing is. If profanity actually was a big issue, there should be filters preventing it in addition to what the staff is already doing. Resource Management: Prioritizing Properly: I’m not going to lie. I was confused when I initially read the following post: http://atherys.com/forum/index.php?/topic/1226-first-video-of-2016-getting-eyes-back-on-us-ready-for-atherys-trailer/ Is there any particular reason why we were spending resources on a project like this instead of the A’therys trailer? The post states that it supposedly is going to be a kickstart to the GazamoNetwork Youtube channel, but couldn’t this have been done with something that contributed to A’therys as well? That way we’d be maximizing the amount of gained according to how much time we’d be spending. Either way, there are plenty of other examples in the past where resources could’ve been spent more thoughtfully, and this was really just another example that caught my eyes. I understand that this might, not be as constructive as the rest of the post, but I thought that I’d still mention it. For future reference, it’d be cool to see more focus on content that benefits multiple products across the Gazamo platform. This is of course not to say, that this hasn’t been done in the past. I can mention several good example where this has been done, which is good to see, but there is always room for improvement. Utilizing The Staff: From a server perspective, I definitely also see room for improvement. For example I do not believe that the staff team are being utilized to their fullest. Towards the end of v2, I started a project to create more events on the server. Once a week a new staff member would host an event to their liking, after receiving some feedback from the rest of the staff. This meant that the community had the opportunity to experience a large variety of events over the course of a few months. Sadly however, this tradition disappeared after my resignation. Something like this would be a good idea to do once again. Have it always be the same time a week effectively making a good and steady tradition for players to enjoy. Additionally the Event Team (Lead by Speedy I believe?) could then help out the moderator. I also believe it’s important to listen to the community. Therefore I’d like give the community an opportunity to give constructive feedback after each event. Overall this should help improve the quality of events as well as create a dynamic environment for players to thrive in. To finish this section off let me say that with proper management all of the various teams i.e. Heroes Team, Event Team, Community Helpers etc. have the potential to be great. It really just comes down to how well they’re managed and maintained. I don’t assume you upper staff promoted all these various people to admins and put them in charge of the various groups if you didn’t believe in them. Publicity/Advertisement: Utilizing The Media: I can’t help feel that A’therys is losing out on a good amount of potential players by simply not doing tiny tasks that increase the overall publicity of the server. When a large video like the one posted yesterday is released, I don’t see any reason why you wouldn’t want to add a “You should also check out our server A’therys” in the description. You could of course argue that all of the GazamoNetwork subscribers already know about A’therys, but the same argument applies to something like the PMC post. Let’s quickly take a look at the PMC page for the most recent project: Notice how it has 4000 views. I assure you that a lot of those viewers are not familiar with A’therys. That’s a lot of potential exposure for A’therys, that we’re missing out on. With the large amount of videos and PMC posts that have been released over the years, just think about the amount of potential new players that we’ve missed out on during that time span. Gaining Little By Little: The list really goes on. There are multiple ways to increase the amount of exposure that A’therys could be getting, just take a look at the A’therys PMC page: Notice how the page has not been updated for 5 months. Basically what happens when you update a PMC page, is that you send it to the front page for a little while. This could for example be done once a day, which would once again mean more free publicity. The fact that the server page has over 750,000 views, definitely also means that it’ll be getting more attention than your average front page post. The possibilities for creating slightly more exposure here and there are really endless, so it really just comes down to whether you want to commit the time to doing so. Paid advertisement: I won’t really bother going into paid advertisement, as Edd has already touched on that multiple times, but what I will say is that I really do think that it’s something that needs to happen soon if A’therys is to stay alive. Not to mention that it’s what people were told their money would partially be spent on when they initially donated to create A’therys Evo. Integrating New Players: This is one of the topics that will require a bit more effort from everybody. Integrating new players into the community is such an essential part of keeping everybody happy and the community healthy. It therefore also seems like one of the most important things for all parts to improve on. Staff as well as players. Creating Proper Guides: Guidance is such an important thing when starting on anything new, and without it it’s easy to lose motivation. It therefore seems very silly of us not to have some proper guides written out and easily accessible for new players. Ideally I think we’d want a “/guide” command in-game, which would give people a large variety of guides to choose from to help new and old players alike. This could then additionally be improved on by making a series of videos explaining the basics. The key here is really quality. If you keep that high, more players will stay interested and motivated to play even more on the server. Improving The Community Helpers/Sages: First of all give them the option to see new players joining the server. This is sadly not a permission node, so the easiest way to do this would be to write a tiny Denizens script tied into a Pex permission granted to those with the rank. This means that they’ll have a much easier time reaching out to those players making sure that they’re getting integrated properly. I also think people might be underestimating how important visibility of staff as a whole is. Give them a proper title to that clearly shows that they’re a Community Helper. The current suffix makes their name with a prefix ridiculously long and quite frankly just looks very unappealing to me. Honestly I think having a prefix called “Helper” Or “Sage” would be a lot more fitting. I would also consider giving them a colored name in tab. Apart from this, I would put a moderator in charge of managing them and making sure that they’re doing their job right. Over time you can slowly grant them more tools to improve their ability to help out the community. I would even consider promoting some of the better ones to staff if they’re doing a solid job. A Lack Of Quality: Maintaining A Standard: This is another one of those slightly controversial things, but in general I sometimes feel things are getting way too rushed. First of all there's the little things like spelling errors in titles taking ages to be corrected, when in reality it’s something that takes 2 minutes to do. *Cough* “Emperpr” *Cough* It really just comes off as laziness and gives a more negative impression to newer players. This is of course just one example of many. Then there’s the larger things, which I really want to believe have reasoning behind them. It’s things like the PvE world from a build perspective. Now this is where it becomes a lot more of a matter of opinions, but to me it just looks a bit rushed. It’s decent looking, but that’s about it. I’m only saying this because I’ve seen what the build team is capable of, and when you know that it’s hard not to consider a build like that slightly above average. Again just as example to enhance the larger point of things. Some of the content when released just seems a little rushed and underwhelming at times, because I know that you can do better. It’s either buggy/exploitable due to lack of testing or simply seems underwhelming, aesthetically unpleasing or even unfinished. So what do I suggest? Well for a start I think community interaction is very important during the creation of any sort of content. The people managing a project should be giving updates on a fairly regular basis to show progress and create hype. This also helps the community during the wait time and diminishes the pressure on releasing the content as soon as possible even if it’s not properly done. Secondly the interaction also serves as a nice way of getting feedback and response from the community. Something that I think is terribly undervalued by many. This ensures quality and satisfaction, which are two of the most important aspects of releasing new content. Perhaps this could be yet another job of the Community Helpers too. A Few Last Words: Phew, that was a pretty long one. I suppose congratulations is right thing to say if you’ve gotten this far. I hope that you’ve had a few eye openers along the way, I certainly have since I started writing this post. I was really just at a point where I needed to vent a bit and to say what’s been going on is this crazy head of mine. I apologize if anybody has felt offended by anything I’ve said, but I got to the point where I thought it was necessary. Both for the community and the staff. Anyway, this is a discussion and I'd like to hear what you guys think about the various matters that I brought up, so I highly encourage you to do so in the comment section below. This also applies if you have any questions in regards to anything that I've said. I've tried to stay as neutral as I possibly could as I analyzed these various issues. Please note that this is done from my perspective and seeing as I don't play much on A'therys anymore I might be missing out on some information. Feel free to correct anything that you feel I'm wrong about. If any staff do in fact believe that I’ve overstepped some kind of boundary in the process of making this post, I’d much rather have you either edit it or contact me so I can do it, rather than simply removing the entire post.     Hello everyone! Some of you might have already noticed that some new mobs got put into the PvE world yesterday, I was trying to put it in quietly to test some things(which ended up being not so sneaky because I had to restart the server 4 times). Well the new mobs are finally done, there's all sorts of mobs spawning mainly based on the biomes they spawn in, you'll see that pig zombies like beaches and lava, spiders like forests and zombies just prefer grassy areas. A new mechanic we have is that each mob has a difficulty, which you can see by the color of their name when you look at them: Dark Green - Easy Yellow - Medium Light Red - Difficult Purple - Miniboss Dark Red - Boss There are four different villages on the map, each one will be swarmed with either a lot of medium leveled or difficult leveled mobs, you'll find that you will earn a lot more exp in these places but it's also a much higher risk. The next point is the bosses: Currently there are no bosses in-game because they will all have their own quest line which still have to be finished, our very first boss will be somewhat of a 10 people boss fight and is very close to be finished, hopefully we can release that this weekend. Here's a quick teaser of our scary boss: For now there is a scary Astorite keeping an eye on every boss arena, watch out for these, they're minibosses!     The Brawler League is Open! A'therys is getting it's very own fight club! The Brawler's League is an underground fighting society operating in Ar-Selukk. Bets are placed, blood is spilled and coin changes hands. Will you try your skills in arena? Or try your luck with the betting booths? Fighters must pay an entry fee (minimum 500y) agreed by both sides. Only one will leave the sands with all the money. On certain scheduled fights the audience may wager on the fight (minimum 100y bets). The Brawler's League will have it's grand opening on Saturday January 2nd! In the future Brawler's League fights will happen regularly and with less regulation as befits a lawless fighting pit. The Betting booth will be open for every fight in this opening event1 .     I'm starting to lose hope. PvP is practically at a standstill. Most of the pvp on the server occurs between two towns, Harvikir and TZ (Bahir_Dar). Fighting the same people gets really stale really quick. I've noticed the server population is down in the past week or two, as well. PvP lags quite a bit even during small fights like 5v5s. I just want to ask one last time; PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, FORGET everything other than fixing the lag. Take the server down for a month or a year. Delete my masteries (I have quite a few and paid for quite a few). Delete my town. Delete my items (I have an elytra, its probably worth more than 90% of the towns on the server). Delete everything if you have to. Just PLEASE fix this lag. Give @Farnsworth a chance. Hire a professional server admin. ASK FOR HELP IF YOU HAVEN'T; it's not shameful to do so. I get this server doesn't get the most money from donations and doesn't have the most experienced coders/staff, but that shouldn't be an excuse. Why? If the server is too big or complicated to be run in its current state, simplify it. Remove things that are inefficient. Reinvent the server and free yourselves from the box that the tech admins/Edd always placed themselves in. You don't HAVE to keep Towny. You don't HAVE to keep Heroes (yes I'm serious, there are alternatives). You don't HAVE to keep everything on the backend. Your community is the most important asset you have, not some poorly coded server files and annoyingly large/cumbersome map. Case and point is Sinister PvP. Please, please, please don't lose them. I honestly don't care what A'therys looks like at this point, I just want it to be playable. Sellt: i renamed the title so people know what this topic is about.

    Greetings! It is I, your ever-mysterious administrator with no purpose. The title of this thread is actually a direct quote from one of the reviews I got. Figured it was as good of a quote as any to start the thread off. Others include: Alright, I take your point. My work on the server really is more behind the scenes. Few people know what my involvement exactly consists of, and most of those don't even know what I work on half the time. So, who am I then? Well, hello, my name is HaedHutner, and I've been part of the A'therys Ascended server for a good 4 years now ( joined January of 2013, during the Jesse Cox wave ). During V1, I really didn't do much, mostly just stuck around Vrovona and helped out my fellow countrymen. I stuck around Dreghorn during my early days on the server, after which I transitioned into PvP and went through a couple of PvP-centric towns like Tear and Ilusia. I'm sorry to say that most of the people I interacted with back then have moved away from A'therys, and I really haven't seen many ( if any ) of them since V1. During V2, I switched nations a few times, initially joining the Daggerlands and being townless for a bit, after which I went back to Vrovona and helped out with Dreghorn, until that died early on. Clearwater was next, where I spent some time PvPing ( or trying to ), and immediately after that skipped over to the Mages Guild where I finally got to scratch my itch for some proper RP. After spending some time there, I got a bit homesick, so I made my way back to Dreghorn in Vrovona, where I sort of became the lead-architect and helped @Hype and @Rynelf lead the town. In early Evo, I really just dedicated myself to helping Dreghorn from the start, and it seemed for a time like the town was going to flourish during the new version. Too bad that didn't work out. I believe Rynelf still gets on every now and again and slaves away at building Dreghorn's new keep, but I'm sorry to say I haven't been keeping much track as of late because of my involvement with the Staff team. And speaking of the Staff team, what is my purpose there then? Well, in short, I write plugins. Or, I try to, anyway. Programming for the server has been an adventure by itself because I've been learning as I've been coding. I'm not some sort of professional with years of experience, I'm just some guy who does programming as a hobby ( and maybe in the future, as a career ). I coded a couple of skills for the upcoming Heroes patch ( You know, the one @Farnsworth has primarily been contributing to ). Right now on the server, Caches are a plugin I created, followed by the Journal. It's not a very impressive resume so far, I know, but there are far more things in the works than there are on the server right now. And I really do wish I could tell you what they are, but I promise you not even @Sellt knows all of them. The way I tend to work is I just sort of come up with a concept for something new ( or something we have already but need to replace ) and just start doing it. I never announce I've started working on something new, since there really is no guarantee I would finish it. Recently though, after working on a few plugin projects I ultimately decided weren't viable, I've gotten to work on something big which A'therys has needed for a very long time, one which the spigot community has been unable to provide. The reason you don't get to see much of me is because I really don't spend much time on the server or interacting with the community. My thinking is that instead of playing in-game, I could be spending that time in front of an IDE, creating something which could improve it. Additionally, I personally do not enjoy having to deal with community drama. I think it not only removes from the A'therys experience, but it also scares off players who learn of it. Another reason you might think I'm inactive is because of my timezone. You see, I'm from Bulgaria, so there's a timezone issue there. Not only that, I'm also a student, which means I'm not always available. I don't do Events ( nor do I like them ), since I don't believe they're an efficient way to deliver content in any shape or form. Instead of spending my time organizing an Event, I could spend that exact same time working on a plugin which could introduce a new mechanic to the server, which would mimic the event ( and as an added bonus, it could be automatic and completely independent of any one person's availability ). My plans for the future are to see A'therys transform, and help it through this transition. It's no secret that A'therys is changing, and I think of it as a privilege to be able to not only see it, but also to help with it. It's our job to make sure this server is a truly unique experience with a wonderful community. For those of you who read through this, thank you, and I don't know how you managed through my terrible writing, but good job!

    So. You’re here, looking at this thread. Either you’re simply curious, or you want to join. Either way, I have some things to set straight. Firstly, there is a strict set of rules to adhere to- If these are broken in any way, shape, or form, you will be kicked for doing these, no questions asked. Breaking blocks- Steryon is a town that was built in creative, and may have fancy, oh-so desirable blocks here and there. There are plenty of places to mine, and our lovely island is not one of them. Exploiting actual(i.e:, Snare Shot, not Doomsayer) glitches in any way- I do not care if it’s the only way you can win a fight. If I catch you doing this, I will kick you. I know, I’m a tyrant. If you are banned at any time during your stay in Steryon, even if it’s only temporarily, consider your membership revoked. We have a reputation to uphold, after all. If you are inactive for more than thirty days without giving proper notice, I will kick you. Breaking any of those four rules will get you kicked out, just in case you didn’t get it the first time. For all but the first and last one, I’ll give you time to move your stuff out of town and even help you do it. This all may seem pretty harsh, but it’s all pretty generic stuff that you’d find in any guild, other than the third rule. That’s more for my sanity, than anything. Now, more rules. Just what you wanted to see, I’m sure! You may not like to RP. That’s fine. At the very least, I’d like you to have some respect for people when they do roleplay, or for when we do events that involve it. Listen to your higher ups. I don’t care if you don’t respect them or like them. If you think they’re abusing their authority over you, tell a captain. Treat your fellow brigands kindly. If you hate somebody, suck it up and be the bigger person. Do not raid our allies. I don’t care if they’re the only people on. If you raid them, you will be reprimanded. I’ll make you cut down a double chest of wood and burn it all right in front of your eyes. Continuing on that rule, if people ask you to leave or are very clearly not going to come out, leave. No local or global flame. I know, I’m so stifling! But I mean it. This is for your own good. The average “gg or gf” is fine, but if you’re calling people trash for not being able to track your mountebank ass down and kill it, then you are not the type of person we want in this town. Of course, this comes pretty naturally- Follow A’therys Ascended terms of service. Shouldn’t need to be said, but it never hurts to make sure. Here at the Marcolo Brigands, we are actually pretty organized and have a rank system- I’m currently looking for Captains and High Captains to help me keep everybody in line. I won’t just give out these titles to people who walk up, ask for it, and start kissing my ass so much that their nose is brown.     Right so, after speaking with md_5 the founder/head developer of Spigot and after he's taken a look at the timing reports we've been able to deduce what may be causing the lag. I was looking in the wrong spots to begin with, however everything has a contribution to the lag issue one of the main non-plugin issue seems to be the amount of mobs in the world. The PvP world, not PvE. However he also pointed out that the amount of RAM that has been allocated to the server is too high which can in fact be a bad thing. So, basically the way the garbage collector works in Java is once it's reached a certain limit of objects in memory the collector comes and collects all the not used objects off the heap. So, it's storing around 16GB of garbage objects on the heap before collection however if we had less RAM allocated the garbage collection will happen more often reducing the amount of load happening on the server when the collection happens. Anyway, this has resulted in me wanting to host a test fight on my server a 5v5 is fine. It'll hopefully have the exact same configs and files as the A'therys live server and will allow me to properly diagnose the lag while also trying various things to remedy the lag as I don't have back end access to the live server as of this time.

    From The Office of The Pithkeeper This will be my final statement at Pithkeeper of The Daggerlands. My time as a nation head of the best nation on A’therys has been an extremely enriching experience. I’ve met amazing people. People who I consider some of my greatest friends on a real scale I met through my time as nation head. I am stepping down because of real life reasons. Nothing bad, nothing bad. I just don’t have the time to run this nation like it deserves. I did my best when I could, but I realize to continue this, it can’t be done under me anymore. I could honestly name so many people who picked me up along the way, and make a mega post about my experiences; however, I’m just going to list a few out of the very many I could. @Helious & @Sellt @[email protected] & @Jay-lee @Rhykker @Foe @HelloImWeird @Galindaan Thewisy @Everybody who served in the Daggerlands' government @Gauth Ironstaff, @lnShane, & @_JailBr3aK_ And to everybody else.     I'm coming for that heavenly booty! It's been awhile since I posted anything in the community creation sub-forum, so without further ado here is Cerulia Citadel - the floating fortress of the sky. It's still very WIP and it's oriental ofc. As seen from a sailors perspective encountering it on the sea. Still a lot of work to be had beneath the epicenter, but it's taking grand shape. You were most likely expecting some dank pirate build, or a creepy organic of a booty - either way I hope this was a pleasant little entry. Disclaimer: the title might be clickbait.

    It's been a personal goal of mine when I get on to play the server to try to have as much fun as possible. This was after fun for me was making people upset for the sense of enjoyment and being an all around troll. For the longest time I took the server and over all games too seriously/competitively but now I sincerely just want to have fun. A way of completing that goal for me was to join the Heroes team and get involved in trying to strengthen the server, and hope to build up to the fun I had in early V2 and V1. The open world feel, the high player population, the silly events and overall the community was so rich with different personalities and communities, it was great. I know as much as no one wants to admit it A'therys is taking a dive right now and everyone mostly sits around and expects Edd, The Heroes Team, Staff ect to fix it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP We need more new player towns recruiting the few new players we DO get in. Treat them quality, tell them which mods to download and GET THEM INVOLVED. Don't shove them in a 4x4 box in a maze town expect them to figure out the server. We need more people logging on, creating events, PvPing, and making their presence known. If you're that guy not logging on because of low player population, LOG ON! There are so many of you that it will make a MASSIVE difference. Get involved with the community, talk to players on TS, don't troll or flame over petty ingame stuff. We need Alliances and Enemies to put a boot up the nations that are stagnated at the moment, its simply something that needs to happen. Vote for the server if you already dont!     Velkas Harvikin Greetings A’therians! After being heavily involved with the Vrovonic government throughout A’therys EVO, I have made the decision to run for the position of Pyre Warden. Experience and credentials for the position of Pyre Warden: I have spent over three years on A’therys since V1, and have been an actively participating member of the community throughout this time. H olding many ranks and roles among different governments, including leading the Pirates Guild in V1, holding military positions in Vrovona in V1, co-leading a nation branch of the Valinta Carte in V1, becoming the Minister of War for the Daggerlands in V2, most recently moving up the ranks of the Vrovonic military to the position of Imperator, and later on being elected by the Imperial Host to the position of Grand Marshal, and acting as temporary Pyre Warden in Rose's’ absence. On top of this, I have also been the mayor of two notable towns that have both been awarded with town of the month, Isteroth and Harvikir. Over my time on A’therys I have learned to respect and value the importance of every aspect of the server, and have dedicated myself to trying to promote positive player experience in Vrovona. After being involved with Military and Non-military Government, the Vrovonic Legion structure, and government structure has proven itself to be very strong. I do not believe in reforming the Vrovonic government to such an extent, as it has already done so much for the nation, pushing Vrovona to the powerhouse in A’therys. Obviously there are always improvements to be made, and some balances and tweaks to ensure every government member is actively doing their role to the intended purpose. Aspirations One of my main goals for Vrovona is to maintain a strong, connected and happy playerbase. Communication and unification is what made Vrovona so strong to begin with, and has been dwindling recently. Whether it be involvement in TS, or setting up towns and policies to help out new players. I would like to highlight the fact that I would encourage more community involvement for all ranks and roles in the Vrovonic government so that they understand the community and involve them in national matters before making vital decisions. Community involvement will also lead to more player satisfaction, and a more content and active Vrovonic playerbase. When it comes down to it, I want to strive for the best player experience not only for Vrovona, but for all players on the server. Legion The Vrovonic Legion has become arguably the strongest PvP force on the server, with a very player rewarding system and a rank system that normal players can climb with persistence, maturity, and showing strength and skill in combat. For new players looking to increase their experience and participate in battles there has been a training system. Every rank in the Legion has a role to play, but they should all be a little more defined so players promoted to those ranks will know exactly what to do when the time comes. I would also like to promote the training program that is in place for the Legion more to new players to learn, set up regular organized scrimmages on the test server, and set up leveling parties for new players. Economy The Vrovonic economy has always been enough to sustain and fund the interests of the nation, like the monthly Celebration of Vrovona tournament, and the arena build competition. However, after time we will need the money to support other interests and something will need to be done in order to bolster the economy. Vrovona should expand its markets, and begin to sell in other national markets to benefit the national economy. On top of that, the Praetor of Commerce and his/her associates should strive to make economic treaties with other groups and nations.1 These treaties can be met through the Praetor of Foreign Affairs and the Praetor of Commerce working together to approach foreign members on these treaties. Government The Vrovonic Government structure is currently working very well, there are just a few tweaks that could be added to make the government run more smoothly, and give more of a role to other players within the nation. Grand Marshal The Grand Marshal acts as the second in command, and the Pyre Warden's secretary. The Grand Marshal is a powerful position, and is more important to the nation then most can see. The Grand Marshal helps the Pyre Warden come to decisions, and is overall the main representative of the players in Vrovona. However, the role of the Grand Marshal needs to be more defined. The Grand Marshal can have the role of getting reports from Praetors and Veserjns, and checking in on government members to make sure they are doing their role to the intended purpose. Veserjns Currently the Veserjns act as the representative of their respective regions, and the leader of their stronghold. I believe the role of Veserjn is valuable to the Vrovonic government structure, however the role is often misconstrued as more of a title rather than a position of leadership. The Veserjns should take up more responsibility to represent their strongholds opinions and views to the Pyre Warden and the Grand Marshal. A way this could be done is having a Veserjn compile suggestions from players within that region regarding things and ideas stronghold specific, or on a more national level and bring those ideas to the eyes of the Pyre Warden and the Grand Marshal. Inquisition The Praetor of Inquisition mostly serves as an RP role that roots out the dishonourable in Vrovona. With the new Legion discipline system in place the inquisition has newfound responsibility, however they need to expand their horizons. As Pyre Warden I would encourage the Praetor of Inquisition and his/her chosen inquisitors to keep a watchful eye over large towns in Vrovona, and if possible every stronghold. I would also push inquisition to make more RP events, perhaps recurring ones which will hopefully bring more diversity to Vrovona. Foreign Affairs The Praetor of Foreign Affairs is a very important position for Vrovona, having heavy involvement with treaties and relations with other nations and organizations outside of Vrovona. Foreign Affairs has been a lacking ambassadors since the start of Evo, because of this prolonged absence and need for ambassadors I would encourage those who I believe fit the position to apply, and the Grand Marshal and I will help out sort applications and try to push to fill in the ambassador roles. Once this is done, I would have the Foreign Affairs and Commerce departments work together to come up with economic treaties with other nations, improve trade, and overall bolster the economy. First Intentions Government If I am chosen by the people of A’therys to be the next Pyre Warden, I would prioritize my goals to get what is most important done first and foremost. The first thing I would like to add to the government is to define the roles in the government, so every player in the government knows what he/she needs to be doing, and every government member has a clearly defined description of his/her job. Secondly, I would like to add to the government is a system so the Pyre Warden and Grand Marshal have a way of checking up on each of the departments. With the newly defined roles it will be simple to tell if this government member is fulfilling the roles duties to the intended purpose. Lastly, I would like to hold frequent government meetings so that the Praetors and Veserjns can communicate easier amongst each other, and with the Pyre Warden and Grand Marshal. Currently there very few government meetings held. The only meeting where the government is all together is at the Synod of the Blades, and it is difficult to discuss specific matters during this. Holding more frequent government meetings will make it easier for the government to define said roles, and will help the government communicate and work together. These are my prioritized goals for Vrovona’s government, once these are complete the government will run more smoothly and it will be easier to progress onto the long term goals. Playerbase My other major first intention is to have Vrovona’s community more interactive with each other, and more open to new players. Many of the larger groups in Vrovona have their own skype chats, or other communication apps that creates a lack of communication within the nation. I would encourage more members of the Vrovonic community to regularly join teamspeak, and be more interactive within their nation and with their nation members. This will strengthen the bonds between towns and groups, and create a more unified, friendly Vrovona. I would especially push government members to be present within the Vrovonic community so it is easier for players to get to know their government and communicate ideas and viewpoints to their government. If I am elected to become Pyre Warden or not, I will still push for a greater Vrovona, and be heavily involved in the Vrovonic community and government. I will continue to strive to bring glory to our great nation! Hail Vrovona!

    You know, sometimes I remember my days on A'therys with such clarity that I wonder why I left. If you recognize this name, then I'm pretty sure you'll be surprised to see me posting on here after all this time. It's not like I ever officially quit, nor did I suggest that I was ever going to "come back" as it were. So I supposed this is a belated apology, but also a thanks, and an explanation. However, even if you don't know who I am (which I'm guessing is most of you), it'd be nice if you kept reading anyway, since there are some interesting and relevant things to be said here. So let's start with a little bit of a back-story for those of you who don't know me- long story short, I joined A'therys in V1, on the 23rd of October 2012 as a fresh faced player looking for some fun with a friend. Eventually I played enough to get noticed, became sort of staff, then stopped being sort of staff, wrote a load of lore (and I mean a LOAD of lore. Some of it's on the wiki, and I may post some here too), became Head Scribe of the Scribes of Order, was an Orator Prince and Department Head of Internal Affairs for Aloreh before... Well, before it came to an end. I don't have an exact date for when I stopped playing, but it just sort of happened. So for those who knew me, I'll tell you what was going on IRL. Now before anyone says anything, this is not a cry for attention, nor is it a sympathy nor a pity thing, it's just information. The approximate date of my "quitting" was the summer of 2014, and around that time I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety disorder. It sucks, but it is what it is. This was probably the main reason for my departure, along with my time being eaten up by university and work, and so I hope you can forgive me for not really giving much notice. But there's something more important that I want to talk about. We often devalue the worth of video games as a time wasting endeavour, or at the very best as simple stress relief. But A'therys gave me so much more than that. Because if it weren't for A'therys, I simply wouldn't be where I am today. The managerial skills that I gained as an Orator Prince and the writing practice that I had whilst writing lore allowed me to come to university with the skills I needed to do more than just my academic work. Thanks to A'therys, I'm on three separate executive committees, Chair of Well Being at my college, PR Coordinator for a mental health campaign, and have given talks from York, to London on mental health. I cannot overstate the importance of A'therys on my personal development. So thank you A'therys. And thank you Vorske, and the rest of the dev, for creating an environment which allowed me to develop real time skills from the comfort of my own home. Thank you to each and every person that I played and worked with during my two or three active years for helping me gain friends I never thought I would. I hope you learn as much, and have as much fun on A'therys as I did all that time ago. One day, when you've moved on from A'therys, I hope that you too will look at how far you've come since joining.     Figured I best make some kind of update post R:E server progression etc. As I am sure those who remain active have noticed, numbers are way down on the server, unlike they were in December, progress on features needing to be added is extremely slow and I have still not been able to get the point of promoting the server. All a bit bleak really. We need a new wave of players into the server to fill out the numbers (nothing new there) and get some new energy going. While the existing active community remains loyal, its not enough to keep the server pumping, despite the fact you guys play, do your thing and have your fun, need the numbers to do certain things. I still have every intention of fulfilling the features list and getting to the point of promoting the server but the one has to come before the other and the one only happens when it happens i.e people are working on things, its just slow, so many of the guys have become very busy very quickly. Its slow across the board with the whole of Gazamo and Minecraft or at least it feels that way. I know folk like Brady and Pumpapa, Vik and Barnie have been working hard to get custom mobs for the PVE world complete. Pump told me there are really not that far off either, so that’s something to look forward to. Joebricksy aka dude who does awesome artwork, renders, building and videos aka dude who is doing the animated A’therys trailer has just worked his socks of with commissions and has finally ordered his new PC. This new PC replacing his old old old pc is going to speed things up 10x and up quality, so excited for him. All the other stuff, as I said, I have every intention to come good, fact is stuff just keeps not working out or taking too long, which don’t get me wrong, I blame no one, I certainly wouldn’t stand and have a go at folks. Its coming. I and others have stuck with Gazamo for years now, thick and thin, A’therys being a part of that, we don’t stop, can’t explain why we don’t stop, just quit, we just don’t. Swear down, one day soon im going to write big happy posts boasting achievements again and celebrating awesome stuff. Anyway, all you actives, loyal A’therys citizens, keep on keeping on, enjoy yourselfs, keep building your awesome towns and creating your awesome adventures, oh and hey, post more? Forums nowadays are really inactive, partially down to lacking players but I think a ot of newer people don’t bother to actively post, encourage them for me.     Hey there everyone! OccidentalAnvil here, maybe a fresh face for some of you newcomers, welcome by the way! Been awhile since I've shown up in the News section; last time was probably over a year ago with the Summer Rime. Well, I figured that's been long enough, particularly with the whole "check back soon" emblem spinning on in the Official Lore part of our lovely new site. I wanted to come tell you guys what's been going on in my neck of the woods in brief, then get to the actual news so I'm not off-topic. So let's have a chat, shall we? A little over a week ago, I managed to trick one of the world's top engineering schools into giving me a bachelor's degree. It was a long con, some five years, but it was worth it I'd say. Regardless, as you might imagine, with the server launching on the eve of my final exams (how we manage to do that every damn time, 3 for 3, I will never know) and my subsequent graduation, I've had significantly less time to write than I really planned. And boy, do I have plans, but we'll get to those in a minute. Anyway, I know it's a pain to play on a server that advertises heavy RP, and to try to write your own works in line with that, without having any of the official material! Trust me, it's painful and embarrassing from my perspective, especially when I had it all up on the old site. But a few months before EVO launched, I started a new project, which I've been referring to as Project Triple-A internally. You don't need to worry about that so much, other than what it means for the near term: I did not want to just release the same-old drivel from the wiki. Most of it was hopelessly ancient, just not the quality or the content I wanted you to have, and some of it was flat out wrong. It was written forever ago, and updated little by little, but with Project Triple-A I needed to tear the band-aid off. To rewrite everything, to bring the content in line with what A'therys really is now. And so that's where I am. I'm not going to put anything on this awesome new site that isn't A'therys, the real A'therys. Obviously I will continue to tweak and adjust, but when I tell you that an awful lot has been changed and solidified, I mean it. I want to make sure that what gets posted in the Official section now will see minimal changes in the future. So I can't lie to you anymore, or keep things from you. And I damn well can't sugar-coat it so it fits all pretty with Minecraft; that's up to you guys as RPers, to take what you want and do with it as you will. A'therys has guns and swords, electricity and magic, men and gods. This may all seem scary, just writing that kinda freaked me out a little, but bear with me. Take a look when it comes down the line. I think you'll recognize A'therys immediately, just with a much more cohesive theme. Anyway, the news. I don't want to drop all that heavy stuff on you with a wave of my hand and just disappear. First, dates: do not expect anything before the New Year, to be sure, but I'm gonna be booking it thereafter to get you your content ASAP. I am pushing for 36 pages, 6 for each nation; those needed the biggest expansion and rewrite, and I figure that content is the most important stuff to you guys right now. A lot of the content after that can actually be just updated from before, so after the first set of a paltry 36 drops the old-new stuff will hit the site reasonably fast. Way faster than my slow ass is going now. I want to say the end of January, but I also don't want to say something I'll miss; I ALSO don't want to take that long, it'd be crazy. So just pretend I said nothing and wait for more words, sound good? Good. Now, I want to show you what all this means in actual terms. It's one thing to say "lots of new, new content!" and go silent for a month. So, here. So that above is the old wiki content for the "Aloreh" page. It had a super sparing history, basic geography, some societal musings, and that was about it. I took out the headings to make it easier to see, there wasn't really much. Now, look below. Now, each nation is a category. The category will hold a page on History (which is longer than the old page was as a whole, you can see it there in the top right four images), Geography, Culture, Theology, Technology, and Government. Every page you see above was expanded to fit my current perception of Aloreh, the exact same coverage as the old page, just up to date. I hope now you'll see what I'm going for, and why it's taking so long. That doesn't excuse it, but it should give you an idea of where we're headed.     From my experience during the past three or four days of coming back, I've seen the reworks of each class on paper and and in execution, it will not be good for the server. The reason I say this is due the fact that a lot of these classes can, and will be stacked- it remains the same as is currently. People who know how to comp will still win teamfights, even quicker even. It won't make new players begin to win fights; instead those who know how to comp still will. Towns such as TZ or Harvikir would most certainly win almost every team fight still as it's been for a while. People who know how to comp around situations will always win compared to those who do not, and it will be even worse in this current situation. I will genuinely be as blunt to say that a majority of these class concepts are actually stupid. Lurker can one shot itself against adjudicator. 3 dooms can be taken in a teamfight and if you don't GA every 11 second cooldown livingbomb if they're synced properly (client permissions are disabled, so echo...) you will lose the fight. Two exemplars can loop 50% damage reduction. Plague has an infinite AOE unheal, according to people I've talked to (havn't tested this myself, though.) Terramancer has a 6 second cooldown on tackle with exemplar armor. It has 10 walls that can be infinitely used regardless of how many you've placed with a 1.5 second delay on every 10 walls. Lurker's backstab does absurd damage. Pyromancer does 70 damage every .5 seconds. Urthkeep stacking with pyro will be absurd. I suppose it could be balanced, however, why not try to fix how it is now, rather than implementing and fixing an already broken system? If the reason this is happening is to make it easier, whoever thought of this is actually denser than osmium. PvP will not be made easier, it will be completely about execution of stacked classes... Please, just do not ruin the server past the point it already is. I may sound rude, disrespectful, and even downright toxic. However, please, just please, figure out another way to do this without making teamfights last 2-3 seconds. If skill reduction is seen as necessary, might I reference another heroes server that begins with H, they have had addition of heroes skills since 2012 with their Zeal map, with people still enjoying their PvP without the need to reduce skills. I have played heroes servers for almost 5-6 years and it genuinely pains me to see heroes be starting to transform into this. Even if you don't agree with me; please just offer to have a conversation with me about why this is a genuinely bad idea. I beg you, even. This will not make your time on the server any easier, just worse.     A'therys Custom Loot Upon killing a mob in our PvE world, you may receive a Cache of Wonders. Upon opening the Cache, you will notice that the GUI looks completely different. One of our Devs, HeadHunter has transferred our Loot Cache system over to Java language in order to decrease the amount of scripts we have running via Denizen. Things to note: The chance of receiving a cache is the same, that has not been changed. The blocks have not changed in amounts, however we have added some which were missing and added some which we can afford to add. Tools and Armour obtained from the cache are now completely random. By using our suffixes and prefixes, the items are able to generate randomly with random enchants based on the name of the item also, so have fun with what you get from those. The annoying of where you would lose a cache if you misc-licked, fumbled around in the GUI.. Fixed. Doesn't happen now, sorted that. Here is an example item I got when playing around with it earlier: Quite a nice item. But, there are many many more awesome ones out there which you can get. As always, if there is something we haven't spotted, possibly a bug or quite a severe exploit, please come to any staff member and report it, it is appreciated. However, if you choose to try and be clever about it and think we won't find out, you won't be here very long if you do. Thankyou all for reading, enjoy cache hunting!

    Astorite exp from 800 --> 1200 All difficult mobs exp from 150 --> 200 Horde Incursion added to boost easy area levelling exp rates slightly. Horde mobs spawn in packs of 12, and give off 60 exp each, and have a very low chance to spawn Tainted DeadEye exp from 150 --> 250 Tainted DeadEye damage from 30 --> 20 ForceTP and ForcePulls have all been changed to Haruspex-esque with vectors and not just plain TPs Thanks to Brady for changes. Please report any bugs you find.

    The Epic tale of the A’therys Server Trailer Soon TM continues….. but not for much longer. Last week Joe and I sat down to begin the process of making the trailer but the very next day, Joe had given up on making it, well given up on making the classic, generic cinematic that people have seen a million times over from all over the Minecraft community. Instead he decided to do something far more special but at the same time far more complex – see picture: Joe has always been extremely passionate about A’therys and felt there was absolutely no point in just doing a regular old trailer because it would get us nothing. He wants to create a video that regardless if you are into the server idea, you would still enjoy as just an epic all round video. From what’s been either created thus far or talked about thus far, the server trailer will have a lot of animation to it as well as cinematic shots. The music chosen is epic as hell and we are even having a small bit of voice over for apart where the music breaks down. This thing is going to be great. Here are a couple more stills grabbed from what Joe is doing: Alright, so why am I making a post about this. The A’therys trailer has become this symbol for people it seems, kind of like a final bit of packaging, something that symbolizes its greatness, so I felt it important to get across to you guys it’s not just being worked on but it’s going to be far beyond the usual. That being said because it is very animation heavy, it will take a while. We are early December right now, and in all honesty don’t need a trailer just yet, so timewise, factoring in Joes school and build team commitments, we are looking at the end of January but given Joes history in cracking on and getting shizz done, it could be a lot earlier, we shall see. I hope everyone sees the value in doing the trailer this way.

    Hello A'therys! Yesterday we had the Sellt Chat where I introduced what will happen with A'therys and where we are going. In two words: A'therys Horizons Yes, we are working on a new A'therys, it wont just be another iteration with small changes, it will be basically a new game. First, the bad things that will happen: All player data will be wiped, everyone will start new. This means no towns, no money, no exp and nothing that was sold in the Store. Now, the good things and why we have that wipe: Atherys will go modded. For what we want to do we can't stay with just plugins, but need to expand and going modded was the logical step. This also means a switch from spigot to sponge, which means our old plugins will not work anymore (no Towny and no Heroes). But don't fear, @HaedHutner is already working on our own custom town plugin (which incidentally allows us to have a town plugin that doesn't have a tonne of stuff that we do not need and also could possibly slow down the server!). Same will happen with the pvp plugin. Classes and skills will be entirely new, as will be the way you level. Store bought items, including towns, will not be available anymore for real money. All these things you will need to play for in order to obtain them. We will have some things we will sell, however, they will be entirely cosmetic. Towns will be more restricted than it's now. You will need to fulfill some requisites to create a town (how many players join, resources etc). Titles will also not be buyable from the store. You will earn titles through playing which also gives a lot more meaning to a title than it is right now. Map One of the big mods we will have is ConquestReforged which will add over 6000 new blocks. Luckily, we got one of the best ConquestReforged map-makers to make us a custom map and from what i already saw it will be fantastic. Size wise it will be smaller, while the landmass will be about the same, (a lot of ocean has been remove). A big part of the map will be the Adventure Zone (Shattered Lands) and so the actual land where you can build your towns will be about half of what we have now. Nations Another big thing: We are turning the globe and will move to another part of A'therys! You will be able to choose between 5 new nations and explore a sixth one that fell into ruins. The last one also will be the Adventure Zone with mobs, traps, dungeons, quests and an expanded Conquest System (for all the pvpers). The 5 new nations: Gennaian Islands: The Gennaian Islands are a collective of Kingdoms under a single national banner; akin to Ancient Greece. Daidama: Daidama is a ‘paradise’ of walled cities; where crime is swept away by justice, and atonements are swiftly dealt out. Dalkun-Tir: The lands of Dalkun-Tir are lowland scrub and rocky steppes, inhabited by the spurned and exiled; hardened nomads who navigate the harsh landscape. Atvoria: Once ruled by the god Nalageos, Atvoria is a land saturated with glamour due to the dragon Zahatmos’ tampering with fate. As such, the people are involved within a constant story, where superstitions and fables come to life. Harugraun: Rugged terrain of mountains and forests; a land that pioneered gunpowder and rivaled only by the Daggerlands in ingenuity. It is a shame, therefore, that they happen to take five steps back every generation from sheer spite and strife. More Information on the Nations will be forthcoming, including their buildstyles. My (your) Story We heard you and we want to give you more influence on the story of this world. As such, each player will get a profile page on the forum connected to the A'therys server. If you achieve something, (slaying the evil endboss, becoming Nationhead etc), you will get you an entry in your personal timeline and if appropriate in the Nations Timeline (Nationheads, Wars etc). You also will be able to add your own personal entries to your own timeline (only difference will be that the official stuff will have a "official" sign). Depending on all these things and our own ideas the world will also evolve. How far and in which direction, I can't say. Release Date We don't have a deadline. We don't want to do another Evo and actually take the needed time to implement everything we actually planned. Further Information I will resume my weekly diary where I will keep you all up to date. Additionally posts will be made to go into more details of what we are doing, what mods you can expect and what we are planning but didn't mention here (several things, but we need to be a bit further with it before it will be revealed).     A beloved friend passed away Thursday morning, Nov 24. Jimmbear was a kind soul. He cared for everyone who crossed his path and stuck his neck out to people he didn't know. He made friends with many people throughout the years he played on the server. He was a true friend and I am happy to say that I got to know him. He was the first person I met when I was brought to the server along with @Foereaper and @SengySama. I was happy to talk to him any chance i got. There were times i got in trouble for staying up so late talking to him about life and the future and weeaboo horror stories. (Very fun to listen to when you can't get caught talking). He was truly a great friend to have. I am disheartened to say that his family is having a hard time paying for his funeral and has made a gofundme so that they can make enough money for his funeral.
