  • Unlike mortals, most gods do not consider any specific place to be their "home." As they descended from the Cosmic Mesh long ago, that is as close as they come on an association level. Those that ruled nations had seats of power from which they controlled their lands, but it was merely a place that served a function as they fulfilled their domains. There are some few exceptions to this consideration, however, and the Red Forest of Cevolo is one of them.

The forest itself has existed for nearly as long as Cevolo has, serving as his sanctum away from the world of mortals. His immense distaste for humanity led him to create it in secret, and none who have ever found it lived long after the discovery. Hunters from centuries past would sometimes stumble upon the glade, covered in eternal autumn, walking uninvited beneath the red leaves. Inevitably, they would come across wild game, which they would take for their own, and return unassuming from whence they came. Cevolo would never abide the desecration of his hallowed wood, however, and would hunt those responsible for tarnishing the Red Forest for the rest of their very short lives.

The last hunter known to have visited the sacred forest of Cevolo was killed in 6C-837, having been lost amongst the crimson trees for days before finding his way home once more. The wood does not seem to have any specific location in A'therys; it merely exists as a place that one can stumble upon by accident. This likely means that it is part of another place of existence altogether, only breaking through to this plane of A'therys when the two intersect within the Cosmic Mesh. Adventurers of all sorts should note, then, to tread lightly should they find themselves in a forest forever coated in the dress of fall. To draw Cevolo's wrath is to become his prey, in a game that is mortally short.
