  3. Official Lore Changelog

Hi all! This is the Official Lore Changelog; where I try my best to track all changes in the Wiki. Originally started by @OccidentalAnvil and continued by myself after I took up the mantle of Loremaster, this is your go-to forum to find Canon Lore Updates! Despite the recent Forum Wipe for A'therys Horizons, I've taken the effort to track and re-post the Changelog from Evo in this original post. See Spoiler below for the old Changelog
  4. Hi all, This is just a heads up that I will be wiping the Player Lore Library on December 1st (about 3 weeks from now). This update will also bring in categories for the new playable nations This update follows the release of the last three updates; Atvoria's and Dalkun-Tir's histories; and a magical mystery update!!!
  5. HAPPY WIKI-ENTRY WEDNESDAY!!! Added History of Kilnholdt to the Wiki. It can also be accessed by clicking the Kilnholdt icon from the lorelanding. - History of Kilnholdt conceptualization by @Foe ; converted from bullet points to first draft by @Xathas - Edited by @Foe, @Razrivon, and @RuddyF
  6. Official Lore Changelog

11/8/2017 All namelinks in the main section of the Wiki will open a new tab, rather than redirect you. This does not affect sidebars. Rearranged some sidebars for better clarity. Still working on it. A backend glitch has lost the People folders for Aloreh, Ar-Selukk, and The Daggerlands. Systems Admins are aware of the fact and are working on recovering the site backup.
  7. Wiki Question :)

Hey guys! So as some people have seen, I've been tinkering with a few fun additions for the Wiki. For those who haven't seen, please note the Test Character here. A few questions I'd like to ask regarding it : A) How does the sidebar interact on mobile? If it's working correctly it should center at the bottom of the Screen, and not cause any trouble. If any platforms are having trouble in this regard let me know and I'll try to flag it for backend to look at B) I've altered the link code in the Namelink to open its link in a New Tab, rather than redirecting you. My logic is it'll cause less trouble wiht people losing their reading place. If I were to implement this in the entire Wiki's namelinks, would you like it? C) Less a question; more an FYI - due to suggestions, website development is looking into adding a Search Bar into the Wiki to help find lore easier. So thanks to the community for always engaging in reading and giving constructive suggestions and comments our way
  8. HAPPY WIKI-ENTRY WEDNESDAY!!! Added History of Daidama to the Wiki. It can also be accessed by clicking the Daidama icon from the lorelanding. - History of Daidama conceptualization by @GodOfGales, original draft written by @Xathas, assisted with edits from @Dani, @Razrivon, and @RuddyF

Happy Wiki Entry Wednesday! In preparation for A'therys Horizon, I will be adding at least one new Wiki Entry every Wednesday! Most of these entries will detail information about the new nations. So keep your eyes peeled for incoming lore every week until A'therys Horizons opens (and of course, after) The Lorelanding has been remodeled Sections for the New Nations have placeholders - Including a few teaser images! At the moment none of them link anywhere and will give you an "under construction" notice if you try to use them. Added "International Waters" under Other Categories Re-Added the Vrovonic Sea and Transcendental Ocean, with edits from their original versions. Added The Sea of Glass
  14. A'therys Horizons

The term is referring only to the "turn pvp on everywhere" ; akin to PvP at the start of V2. I'm glad that people ARE proposing ways to improve the server experience. The point I was making was that without something besides "turn pvp on everywhere so we can attack any town", people will get bored with doing so, either because everyone has tried to join their side or has been driven off because they're tired of dealing with it. Taking away a town's choice to disable PVP forces those who would rather avoid combat kills a part of the playerbase that would rather focus on building a town; especially given that we're focused a good deal on building with the Conquest Reforged Texture pack. That noted, I'm equally against the people who say a player should individually be able to turn off their own PVP status - as venturing out into the Wilderness is MEANT to be a risk. In the same sense that we don't make PvP players engage in Merchant activities to level-up their class; but they can if they would rather purchase their gear rather than hunt for it via monsters / killing other players. Options of PVP/No-PvP towns should continue - although there should be a "stick to your choice" note across the board on this. Furthermore, proper rewards systems for PvP hotspots encourage competition over an area with discernible benefits : and keeps the complaint of "they're harassing my town" down by a moderate degree.
  15. A'therys Horizons

It should also be noted that the server functioned fairly fine before the week of killing even was a thing. The moment people turned minecraft pvp into a metagame was the second of the troubles we began to have. When class stacking became a necessity rather than players picking classes that fit them because they had skills they found fun. The problems I have always seen have not been in regards to PvP, but those who take to it with a hardcore mindset. Do note that I am a casual player of video games in the sense that I love cycling through a variety of games - and rarely delve into the hardcore aspects of a single game due to my enjoyment of variety and replaying of favorite games. I always have been, I always will be, from the moment my mother first handed me a SNES controller for Christmas until I keel over and die (likely replaying Morrowind.) While I understand that from a business standpoint; hardcore players are the lifeblood of a game; when taken to A'therys in a PvP sense it has had a very bad tendency to go overboard until every other possible 'side' has either jumped ship to join their side or stopped logging in. To put it simply; mindless PVP everywhere has no value to the long-term survival of the server in our model - which involves intricate builds, custom maps, and attempts ot put lore behind everything you interact with from a development standpoint. Hence; my argument towards pulling the rewards of PVP outside of towns entirely in order to draw players TO a hotspot rather than force towns who might not want PvP on to participate in an aspect of the server they would rather avoid - the same reason we don't require PvP players to become skilled merchants in order to gain heroes skills / exp. In short; games need something for you to aspire to, challenges for you to face and complete, even if they’re essentially artificial. Without proper compensation for the time you put in to a game, you begin to ask yourself: “Why do I even play this game? What am I getting out of it?” When these questions can no longer be answered sufficiently, that is how video game burnout begins. That's what causes bored PvP'ers to leave the server in the first place.

  23. A'therys Horizons

I did read Vorske's post. And his advice was to learn from his mistakes. The biggest of which involving changes in direction between sides, rather than deciding what we're gonna do, and sticking to it. The final product will be the result of discussions dating back to March, most of which we have solidified and others which are in the final stages of refinement. We are catering to a large community; and members of both sides have jumped the bandwagon when things seem to be going south; be it RP communities to LotC or PvP to Herocraft. At the end of the day, there are five+ years of lessons learned from this server and we are doing everything within our abilities to provide an experience that everyone will be able to enjoy.

About Us

A’therys Horizons is an upcoming Minecraft Modded RPG Server, a world truly unique with many experiences for Roleplayers, Pvpers, Builders & Merchants alike.
