    About the Capitals. These will actually be the newbie towns. Meaning players will start there, will get "trained" in atherys and will live there for a while until they move to a player controlled town. That alone should already give the Capitals more live. If you mean empty buildings with hollowed out shells, i can tell you that the build team is filling them all up with interior designs. From shops to homes to warehouses, bathhouses, taverns, schools, government buildings, all that a city needs to survive My map making process involved WorldMachine and now working with Worldpainter to do some detail work and add custom terrain palettes. So a lot is from a generator but its a directed generator that did what i wanted + some detail work by hand. Honestly, when i started on the map myself it was mostly out of necessity, but in a short time i became really exited about it and its a ton of fun to do this and i cannot wait to see player interact with this environment and hopefully find joy in it too But the whole project makes almost every day better for me, to know that i can work with such dedicated and wonderful people on what is basically a dream project for me (i guess there are a lot of people who dream about making their own game, so i see myself as blessed that i got this chance). Head is working hard o nthe pvp plugin, and we will have a ton of mechanics to make it fun for PVPers and hopefully to lessen the divide between pvpers and non-pvpers. From what we will implement you will have a lot more chance to engage in PvP than ever before in Atherys.

    Hello A'therys! It has been some time since we've updated you on what has been going on in the development of A'therys. Fear not, that doesn't mean that we've slowed down - it means the opposite. A number of things have been done these past few weeks from coding to building. Our custom quest plugin is being developed and will offer us some fun opportunities to let you interact with the world and learn about the new nations. Speaking of new nations, work on the capitals continues with Seten-Nan, capital of the harsh and desolate Dalkun-Tir. Our Lore Team is also still working on some of the finer details of the nations, and as such if you are interested in forming parts of the nation of your choice, maybe hit the lore team up in discord and start a friendly talk! Maybe your ideas will end up in the game! Additionally I thought maybe I should write a bit about what I personally was working on and what will give you a bit more insight into the nations, the map and what kind of terrain you may expect to find. You probably already know that the Gennaian Isles are, surprise, Islands. Imagine Mediterranean islands and you got a pretty good picture of them. Further to the east one will find Daidama, with an icy north, stony highlands and further down jungles and a region inspired by the Tianzi Mountains of China. South of Daidama we get to a dryer region, Dalkun-Tir. A nation filled with Savanna, Mesa land (inspired by Monument Valley), Canyon and a smaller Desert (far smaller than Ar-Selukk’s Desert). Both Nations, Daidama and Dalkun-Tir share the same river (which also connects the capitals) and which will be around 6.5km long. So look forward to some epic boat races! Even further down we find Atvoria, a land shaped by magical stories. The epitome of the default fantasy land we all know from somewhere. Included are a swamp like region, mountains, large grassy plains, sharp rock formations and even a mushroom forest with flying rocks. A bit apart from these nations to the south west we get Kilnholdt. While parts of it are inspired by Scotland we also get a huge terraced Mountain region on the main island that, in my opinion at least, looks stunning. Coming from the lowlands to the road up to the capital will be a wonderful sight. Additionally the cave system has been slightly changed from evo to get a more epic feeling, deeper caves, some bigger ones that would be big enough to hold w whole town and even underground rivers.     Hello Atherys! Time for a new Sellt Diary Entry. Much has changed since the last entry and as you know (if not go and check it out right away) we now have a survival server running. Don’t worry, we are still working on Horizons and no resources have been diverted, the survival is just something we work on when we can’t work on Horizons. But this also means we are in the process of adding additional features to the survival server to give you more to do and maybe make a few things easier. A more detailed changelog will come to the forum as soon as Dannie has fixed the last issues with a new feature (which probably will make a lot of people happy!) All in all I hope you enjoy the experience and get to know the conquest reforged mod! Horizon wise we are still making progress at a steady level, more code has been written, more stuff has been build and things have been designed. Yeah its not very descriptive but that’s sadly the nature of it at the moment. All I can say that its going and we are still fully invested in this project. Maybe you will see some of the features popping up at some point when we need to stress test them 😊 We are still looking for artists to create skin packs for weapons and armor. So if you good at this and have some spare time, now you know what you can do to help! -> Further for the people inclined to RP, if you not already have check out this post: This is still under development and there maybe some changes how it works out in the end, but it should give you a basic on how you can become canon and part of the lore of Atherys! Maybe a year into the game your character is actually a big hero listed in canon, wouldn’t that be fantastic? Or maybe even a villain, guessing some of you would prefer that Because I was trout fishing yesterday I will present you my favorite recipe for trout: What you need: 2 trouts Olive Oil Lemon parsley, dill or you favorite herbs salt and pepper In my case I have 2 fresh trouts that I cleaned out. You probably can buy them this way in the store too. While preparing the trouts, heat up the oven to 400° F and get two thick aluminium foils (big enough to wrap the fish in it). Place the trouts, skin side down, on the foil and oil them lightly with olive oil. Season the fish with salt and pepper, fill the fish with parsley, dill (or what herbs you like) and lemon slices. Fold up the aluminium to make a nice package. Bake the fish for 10-15 minutes, the fish should pull apart easily with a fork. When serving pour the juice in the foil over the fishes. And enjoy!

    And the polling and collecting of ideas happened in the last few month of atherys ascended. All it would do now would make it more complicated and messy. But yeah don't worry, i had a lot of talks in the past with the player base in friday evening chats from where many of the stuff for horizons comes from.

  6. Hi Everyone, Today, as promised we talk about armor and weapons and what we want to do with them skin wise. So first an overview of the tiers and materials: Armor Tier 1 Tier 2 Tier 3 Light Hide Leather Aramid Medium Chainmail Scale Lamellar Heavy Plate Crystaline Argentate Weapons List of the Weapons: Dagger Sword Axe Mace Polarm Staff Throwing Weapons (axes, knifes etc) Crossbow Bow All Weapons have the following tiers: Tier 1: Wood Tier 1.5: Bronze Tier 2: Iron Tier 2.5: Steel Tier 3: Crystaline Tier 3.5: Argentate Requirements for making skin packs We need skin packs that include all armor but not technically all weapons. For weapons you can combine tier 1 and 1.5, 2 and 2.5, 3 and 3.5 into each one skin for the pack (of course if you want to differentiate even the half levels you are welcome to it. That means a normal skin pack has skins for the following: Each Armor type, in total 9 Each half weapon level type, in total 27 (if you want to make unique ones for the full levels too: 54) Fun / RP packs can include only skins for basic armor/Weapons. Clothing for jobs, or costumes (Halloween). Also, a sword doesn't need to look like a normal sword. It only needs to use the same damage type (example: it can look like a Katana, rapier, etc. all using slashing damage). The same goes for the other weapon types. Some packs don't even need to entirely adhere to the listed material, for example a "nature" pack can have a bone-sword with inlaid diamonds as the tier 3.5 weapon. Which packs do we absolutely need: A default one for all types of weapons included. One pack for each nation (national armor and weapons) besides these, we take all (that look somewhat good) and if fitting will be in game earn-able or via the store. You can also make, for example, an RP pack, where armor looks like the clothing of different jobs and the weapons like their jobs tools.   7. I Greet you, People of Atherys! I decided that today, while g the beautiful view outside my window, i shall update all of you about the progress of Atherys Horizons. First, I want to make it clear that we all are still 100% committed to the project, in fact I just signed a server contract for a year (saving money, but i'm bound to the servers for at least that time) and as far as I can see and feel, the whole team is still with me! Our build team is making good progress with building the Gennaian Isles capital after which the others will follow shortly (you may have seen some of the screenshots taken in the capital. it looks breath taking. I even took a tour in VR in there). Our Dev Team is working on finishing the AtherysCombat Plugin which took us a while to nail down how we want it to work (soooo many opinions. Really wasn't easy) but i think most of you will be happy with what we got (ofc not all, it will never be all :D) Some of us are in the process of designing and creating the dungeons which will be a big part of your Adventures, i saw some of the ideas and i very much like them. I even visited one and i'm sure you will enjoy it too. One of the big parts now is that we finished up our list of weapons and armors and their tiers. This is important in so far that i know need as many designers as possible to create skin-sets for these. This means that there will be different skins that you can find (and many more to buy in the store) to make your gear a bit more unique. For example, there will be nation specific textures for when you want to go to war in style! These ofc would be sets that can be found/made in game. I will post a specific topic about this later this week( so tomorrow or saturday) detailing the items and tiers and what is required of skin-sets. Hoping to find some more people helping making them. Incidentally you will also learn a bit more about what kind of weapons you will be able to use in Horizons (wont be just sword, axe and staff!). In almost all other parts and features for this project we made progress but often in away that its really nothing to talk about besides saying, yeah we are progressing along well. As soon as another features is ready/finished i will make a special post talking about it, which i hope is soon! Now i shall return to my favorite Tavern and enjoy another glass of.. aehm... water!   8. Hello Atherys! Man, after weeks and weeks of just working on what we already told you i thought its time to give you a small update. Coding is still underway, further along than we ever where. We got the combat system sorted out and its now put into code. Got more artists on board for lore and items. We now use the main server as our development server where head, dannie, dev members etc are working as much as they can to finish all. Now the most important thing for this diary, sadly, through some time issues with the map and no work for our builders we lost a lot of them. But now we are at a point where we actually need builders to work on national buildings. So if you can build please apply and we can put you to work immediately!   9. Hello Atherys! A little Diary from me today, hopefully I can tell you guys a lot more next week or the one after. Website I want to remind you all that at the end of the Month the Forum will get wiped so we can switch to the new Nations setup. This will also solve another issue we have; the forum takes up way too much space (years of posts and pictures). So make sure you save what you want to keep and prepare to fill up the new Forum! We already added the first new thing to the website: https://atherys.com/forum/gallery/ End of Atherys Ascended So, soon we will take down the Server to enter the next development stage off Horizons. For that we wonder if you would join us for a final purge event + TS party! Saying goodbye to a good time and getting ready to say hello to the next. Weapons and Armor We are now detailing what kind of new Ores and Ingredients can be found In the shattered lands. With these you will be able to craft he highest tiers of Weapons and Armor. We are also finalizing the list of weapon types we will have (way more than just a sword, an axe and a staff!). We also will create additional textures (skin) or all of them. Some can be found in game, many others will be sold via the shop. Plugins & Mods Still work to do there, but head is making progress working on the combat plugin at the moment. I still work on the mount mod (soon we will know who won the contest! Hope not too complicate to make ). Build Team As you can see on the Forum, we are looking for more Builders.     Your second idea. We actually doing something similar. Instead of towns with this we will have Nation Outposts than can be raided for loot and "points" (fame, reputation... still looking for the right word. You will be able to buy unique stuff with this) that you then steal from that nation to add to yours. In my imagination i see a troops attacking via foot and Airships coming in from above to raid such an outpost.

    Yes there is a PVP system in place. I just didn't talk about it in this diary because not much has changed there. I talked about it in the earlier diaries and in the Horizons Announcement post (Basically the 6th nation, shattered lands, will be a pvp zone with conquest, raids, quests, dungeons, high end materials (so people need to go there and need to be prepared to fight)) Not as it was. Guilds will be a player thing. If you want to Start a Guild then just do it. Organize etc. But it won't be its own little nation anymore.
  12. Hello Atherys! I'm back from holiday! (which, btw. was fantastic! literally!, Orcs, Magic, Undead, Elfs and War!) And now back to work for Horizons, which is progressing slowly but steady. So lets recap where we are right now: 1. Map The Horizons Map is still a work in progress (a test of the Gennaian Isles can be found here: Map Topic). The map maker has been working tirelessly to create countless assets ( no, seriously, we got him to count them up, it’s crazy the amount he’s actually created thus far ). Anything from trees and mushrooms to rocks and crystals. You already know, of course, that we plan to use the Conquest Reforged mod. The Horizons map will utilize the new blocks to create truly breathtaking landscapes. For Some pics i would suggest to check out our Twitter which is regularly updated: https://twitter.com/AtherysHorizons Also you can join our build-server build.atherys.com to see what others are working on for Horizons and/or plan your own stuff! 2. Internal Coded Plugins/Mods AtherysTowns Plots. Gone are the days of having to deal with pre-determined chunks of the world. The new Towns plugin does not operate using standard 16x16 plots of land. Instead, each plot is an independently defined rectangular bit of land, with some caveats. Minimum size and maximum area requirements will be imposed. This is primarily to prevent the claiming of extreme shapes such as a 1x256 plot or a 1x1 plot. Obviously, these sorts of claims would be malicious or utterly inefficient, which is why the plugin would prevent them. This Plugin is basically finished and ready to go (but we want to add some more nifty stuff like automated town managing to keep town members on their toes to keep it active). It has all the positives of Towny + a lot more good stuff - the bad stuff of Towny. AtherysCombat One hell of a Plugin head is coding here. It will be far more versatile than Heroes was and its visual representation will also make it much easier to use. A lot of it is finished and head is now working on the database for it. I think he has a lot of fun with that part. Quests & PvE The Quest team has evaluated several Quest and Mob mods and settled for BetterQuesting and and CustomNPC. They are "training" on both and working on a unique Quest experience. If you ever visited the Baile in Aloreh you know that we have some talented Quest writes, and with these Mods i know they will do some truly amazing stuff. CustomNPC also allows for some very different Mobs for you to fight which will stalk the Shattered Lands. Mounts We are also working on custom Mounts (i posted a pic of one in an earlier diary). This work is going a bit slow because i'm not that experienced at mod making, but i still making progress. Even learning 3D modelling in Bender (fascinating stuff). 3. Lore Here i like you to visit this post, recently made by Xathas: 4. Your Story This part i'm also working on personally and its going great. Sadly i can't show you much cause seeing code isn't that interesting. You will be able to see all achievements in chronological order and all the things you did in the World + add your own story parts. People will be able to see what you did in the past, including things that were one time events. Hopefully making your story unique. Additionally stats will be visible too. 5. PR We got a bit of a reconstruction in the PR Department (see here: PR) which you should read and check out. At least follow our twitter for all the newest Infos: https://twitter.com/AtherysHorizons 6. New Gear We have some Artists working on Textures for new Armor classes and new weapon types! In Horizons you can run around with a Mace! This will also be part of the evil money making scheme, Some of the textures will be sold as skins in the shop (only skins. No stat changes). RP-PVP I was contacted by some pure RPers that brought up a concern about how to handle RP fights between 2 people (1v1) in a non-combat zone (Capital or no-pvp towns or other zones). And so I am interested to see if there are actually enough people with the same concern that would like to play on Horizons. The basic idea would be to have an established system for RP-PVP for 1v1 situation which would be totally optional (so both players would need to agree to use it) and it wouldn’t be enforced by staff (would be just too much drama). To make this clear and simple: 100% optional, non-enforced RP-PVP System. Only benefit would be that people who want to use such a system don’t need to come up with it for themselves on the spot and just can use this system. AtherysTown Last Staff-Meeting the team got a chance to experience Headhunters Town plugin and wow, it’s just great. It’s a lot sleeker than towny (none of that stuff we never used) and got a few more features that really add to the convenience of using it. I don’t want to go into much details at the moment (still some work to do) but you will get a bigger article about how our new town plugin will work soon. Quests Our Quest-team has now been formed and are starting to develop the story lines which you will be able to explore. We have also selected a mod for the quests plus some additional stuff (NPC’s mainly) to be able to give you immersive and fun quests. And if you have a great story laying around that would make a good Quest send it to @Dani. Maybe the Quest-team can use it! AtherysMods We still work on a mount mod for Horizons but ran into some problems (mostly me personally :D). So maybe one of the readers here has experience with mod compiling for forge. If so I would love to pick your brain to get some problems out of the way. Coders I’m happy to say that we got one more coder to the team. But yeah we still could use some more -Sellt

    A'therys Horizons

    In case of Horizons its not a playerdata wipe. Just the game for which stuff was bought is going offline and a new game is coming. A sequel so to speak of. This won't be Atherys Ascended anymore with some added features. We redo everything. And yeah that option was always in the T&C. Stuff just got rewritten to make stuff clearer in January. And thanks for telling us about the addition we need to add. Btw. If you ever run into a problem because a site did change their T&C without notice and you got a problem because of that... you can sue. Several lawsuits were already successful because the "without notice" is rather assholey. (cause people can't accept T&C that weren't known at that time). So yeah. If we plan to change the T&C there will be a big notice forum topic about it.
  15. Hello Atherys! Welcome to my next Diary entry! Website First I want to tell you that In case you didn’t hear. We moved our website to a new hoster (mykinghost.com) because on the one we had we were very limited in diskspace which lead to crashes and other problems, which we now don’t have anymore! We are still tweaking the performance but it should already be more stable. If you find bugs please report them to us and we will take care of them ASAP. Talking about Website. We have a person that is making a new Theme for our Forum Software which should be a lot closer to an RPG feeling than the current one. Which most likely will be introduced with the release of Horizons. Overall Progress Right now the different teams are working on their stuff. Head is working on our own Town plugin (making it perform a lot better than Towny!). PvP Team is refining the pvp/skillsystem concept, the buildteam is working on the capital styles and on some dungeons (for current version and for Horizons) and the mapmaker is working on all the flora for the different nation biomes (including some cool glowing crystals). So right now all is proceeding at a normal pace and it’s mostly grunt work. But I think next week I can show you some cool stuff! The Artists We now got a new team lead by @Altairas which is working on pixelart for new weapons and armor. This will be used for higher tiers of gear but also as skins you can buy in the store then (only skin. Stats will not be influenced), staying in line with my promise that we will only sell cosmetics to finance the server. If you are a great artist (pixelart) don’t hesitate and contact Altairas. I’m sure we can use some more help there. More People We can always use more help in any form, but right now it seems that most of the teams have a good amount of people in it, only one group could really use reinforcement: Coders.
