Because people get tired of having to fight the same people over and over. Variety becomes a factor when you raid the same town over and over and both sides get bored and end up not playing. Going to the same fight spot or raiding the same town because no one else has pvp on gets repetitive. Also a lot of the pvper's on the server end up in the same town since pvp isn't an option in a lot of the towns.

Having to find towns that toggled limits the choices of who people are able to pvp against. And everyone was fine with pvpers have to deal with that decision, despite being annoyed with the result. It got to the point where we literally had to make treaties with other pvp towns to not turn pvp off in their town so that rogue raiding didn't die.

But super high walls don't have to look ugly. Both Tir Zyhul and Clearwater have had high secure walls that also look nice.

I mean, in no way am I saying global pvp has to be on constantly. Would I prefer it? Yeah of course, pvp is what I have fun doing on the server. But I can also understand why people wouldn't want to be gibbed in their towns and die randomly. But the thing is, that's part of what makes A'therys fun, at least in my eyes. Yeah there's opportunities for pvp across the map, but there's tons of different ways people pvp. Some people prefer big teamfights, and other people prefer the fun of sneaking around someone's town as a rogue. Both sides should have a choice in the way they experience the server, and it's a lot easier for people to adapt to pvp being on than it is for people to adapt to it being off in most towns. The latter previously only lead to people either logging off because hey there's no one to fight, or because no one wants to wait four hours for someone to walk outside of their town border only to run back in at the first sign of trouble.

I don't see what you point here is. No one here has said they want a solely PVP server. Roleplay and PVE are core components of A'therys and help shape it's identity. PVP is another of these components and one that just happens to have a larger demographic present in the playerbase. Therefore, it makes sense to put more focus into improving on that element of the server. There's no reason that PVP and other elements of the server can't cross over, such as during the numerous events that have happened over A'thery's lifespan. I think everyone needs to stop pretending that every PVPer is some evil mustached villain hoping to kill them and ruin their time on the server, and just realize that we're trying to improve it. If more people stop villainizing us and actually listened to our inputs then less arguments would occur.

And we're arguing that attempting to cater to everyone isn't a viable option as has been proved in the past. Not everyone cares that much about the roleplay and pve aspect of the server, and while we agree that they should be looked into and improved, the vast majority of us see PVP as the primary focus of the server. It's what brings back the majority of the playerbase, and at the end of the day, we all want to play a server where there are actually people on and not the random 10-15 people you see randomly on when PVP stops being prevalent.

Saying someone is biased because they don't agree with your side of the argument, and not adding anything meaningful to the discussion only makes it look like you have a grudge against pvpers. The server's main population at almost all the times it's been populated is due to pvp being rife. That's a fact. Saying that we have relentless PVP is just flat out wrong. It's kind of hard to have "Relentless PVP" when people just toggle pvp off or build fish globes for towns, and then complain when the server population drops and they don't have anyone to show their blocks to. If you can't accept the fact that PVP is what holds this server together, you're delusional. It may not be the only aspect, but it's 100 percent the most influential on player population.
